IGN's Bioshock PC REVIEW!!!

It's mostly the same as the xbox360 review except for these pertinnt PC points:

"With the PC version, hacking is a more streamlined process since you don't have to move a cursor around with thumbsticks - you just hover over with your cursor."

"If you're debating which version to get, the PC version handles better. In part it's because of the greater precision with the mouse and keyboard, but also with how the plasmids and weapons are selected.........etc"

"The PC version definitely outclasses the Xbox 360, mostly because of the ability to crank the resolution to 1920x1200. If you've got a Vista rig with a DX10, you can expect heightened particle effects, crisper real-time shadows, and more dynamic water, but the game looks gorgeous regardless. On our gaming PC running a Core 2 Quad processor with a Geforce 8800GTX, and 4 GB of Ram.......etc"

I can't wait!!! My new PC will be here next week to replace my current 4 year old rig.

Urgh. Man now i need either a demo so i can decide. Either 60 for the 360 version for achievements or pc version for 50 for the better controls and picture. Hmmm i need a demo, i already think i can run it on high at a high res but i need to be sure. Ill easily get the pc version if i can test it out first. Still just in case, i might preload it on steamMiguel16

It's $10 whole bucks son! If you've got the PC to run it, then who cares about achievements? I mean, unless you're really into achievements and/or don't get many 360 games... Seriously, though, $10 is a lot of money if you ask me...

i just played the xbox 360 demo on my 42inch plasma. Man im surprised how amazing this game looks on a console, the water effects are crazy. But of course I am getting it on the pc, I just need to get a better monitor now. My rig can handle much better than 1280x1024. Looking at getting a 22inch widescreen soon.

Your preference. Bioshock seems more appealing to me.

I really hope so! Bioshock SHALL BE CROWNED KING! This is probably going to be the best singleplayer experience personally for me since Half Life 2.

Im running XP, not sure if it's worth going to vista just for slightly better graphics cause I already have a 8800gts.

Will definately move to vista for Crysis DX10, but I wanna see dx9/10 comparison shots for bioshock.

Crysis may be technically better, but I think that it lacks personality (from what we've seen, anyway). I'd prefer to play Bioshock.

Yeah, I was kind of leaning towards that option, although I think I'll wait for the PC demo before I decide. If I can run it at low/medium with a decent FPS, I think I'd actually rather play that as I'm not too fond of controllers for FPS.

I personally cannot stand shallow games that are all about graphics and no gameplay/story. That is why I didn't like FarCry....boring....and probably will not like Crysistoo...

Well not all people are graphics whores like you. A good story is what makes a good game. Graphics are a big part of video games but they are not nearly as important as the sroyline.

Far Cry had killer AI and the best shootouts I've ever had! Even after all of these years, I still think Far Cry's AI and action are a little better then even FEAR. In fact, I would say that I am still waiting for an FPS to provide more satisfying shootouts and AI than Far Cry - THAT is my personal definiton of "next gen".

Crysis and Bioshock are both going to be incredible games, so why bicker over which is top dog? They are like black and white as far as I'm concerned...let's see, Crysis, 2020, tropical island, aliens, north koreans, nano suit....... Bioshock, 1930ish, failed underwater utopia, mutants, plasmids, skill system. Might I remind you that both Irrational games and Crytek are amazing developers.

The only similarity I can see is that a) they're both first person shooters, and b) they're both spiritual successors. And saying Crysis will be a dull experience simply because of a bit-tech review (that's the only way I could possibly think of anyone suggesting it will be dull, already) on easy mode, which even later states it's a lot better on ultra hard, and trying to argue that it's just some flashy tech demo, just proves one's ignorance.

Far Cry was a great game, the only thing that kept it from getting higher than a 9.2 was 1) it was a bit rushed, story didn't finish up very well, and 2) at about the 5th chapter (not even halfway through the game) , the game turned from a interactive FPS, to a reactive FPS, detracting from the game a lot. In Crysis, both of these issues, which account for numerous smaller ones, are completely gone, Crytek eliminated the corridor doom-like levels and kept it as open as possible. And then you can add in the better graphics, better AI, destructible (to an extent) environments and vehicle component damage. Please, don't try to tell yourself Crysis will be dull simply because you've been waiting for Bioshock (without a name) since SS2. Because I have too, but Crysis will be great, don't try to kid yourself into thinking otherwise.

No one should be comparing Bioshock and Crysis. We as PC gamers should be happy that we will eventually get our hands on both of these great games.DigitalTeknique

Agreed, comparing games like these is a very silly thing to do. They are very different game with different purposes. I think comparing games at all in a "which is better" situation is silly unless the games are extremely similiar. That's why when I see posts on the PC forum that say things like "Which is better: Half-life or Deus Ex?" or "Should I buy fallout or starcraft?" it always makes me give an exasperated sigh.

ROFL did you even play FarCry? The game has an average storyline, but with the exception of a few uninspiring levels mid game, the gameplay was top notch. Lemme guess, you like run n' gun ala Halo style?
