I make it to about 20 min. :P No seriously, that's as much as I can play at once, and I watch horror movie after horror movie, and I have played so many horror type games that I thought it wouldn't do crap to me. I was wrong, oh so wrong.I recently purchased Amnesia: The Dark Descent and I cant play more than 10 mins because I feel like im going to have a heart attack:cry: So has any game made you feel that way?

I'm currently in the prison chambers right now. Needless to say, I'm a little afraid to continue it. :P
I still think it's an awesome game so far though. :P
I could hardly play Trespasser, and in fact I never finished it. The game just about gave me a heart attack. I think its because I felt so vulnerable..
I don't know that it's possible for any form of video game to be frightening to me. Interesting or exciting, sure. But being afraid of something in a video game? That's quite a stretch.
I'm not trying to brag here, but I wish I was scared as you guys. It would have made the experience 10 times better. I think it's due to watching too many horror movies and ghost tv shows.Elann2008IDk man. I watch horror movie after horror movie, and I watch a crap ton of ghost shows. I also read up on the crap almost every chance I get,and this game still scared the **** out of me.
I watched my buddy play the demo and it looked pretty good, but then neither of us had a clue what to do next so it kind of got annoying :P.
So this Amnesia more of a "BOO! Haha you jumped" type of scary, or a "If I step into that shadow I know I'm going to die" type of scary? :P I think the only game that ever got to me psychologically was Silent Hill 2 about 10 years agoistuffedsunnyIt is more like Silent Hill where it messes with your mind. It uses the enviroment and the sounds to make you paranoid about how to go about your objectives. It blends rational thought with paranoia so you do not always clearly percieved your surrounding.

There are no moments that something happens right infron your eyes and the game is like "hahaha i scared you" The game is filed with various sounds that scare your character. The screen starts to blur, your character breathes faster and eventually his sanity falls and the game slows your movements alot, you move the mouse and it reacts a second later and it reacts slowly. So its more of a call of cthulhu. Most of the time the scares are nothing more than sounds that scare your character (thus why i didnt like it, it felt forced rather scarign me when i didnt expect it) Some say that that adds to the atmosphere and it is what scares you. Also it has moments that mosters appear and you got your hide, or it will kill you and if you look at them for too long the screen blus and your character makes noises with his teeth.

Yea pretty much this. The first playthrough was scary as **** but it loses its punch after that. however, there are some great costume stories for this game.
I did around 20 mins..for the demo. It's too scary for me (though admittedly I'm not a fan of horror). Never really picked it up, if the demo made me poo I'd hate to see what the full game can do.

THA-TODD-BEAST
I think it has something to do with the fact that you're not really in any danger when playing a game. If I was really somewhere surrounded by monsters and unarmed I'd probably be paralyzed from fear. I'd curl up in a corner somewhere, piss myself and wait for a quick death. But when I'm playing a game it's not like a ghoul arm is gonna come out of the monitor and grab me by my throat. A game might startle me, like when a monster jumps out of the closet infornt of you, but it's just a momentary scare without any lasting effects, but I've never felt that I don't wanna keep playing the game because it's 'scary'.
Great game, although I am not finding it that scary. I am about 2 hrs in and love the puzzle solving. It can be difficult at times, but once I find out what to do I realize it was pretty simple...
Usually, I am scared of horror/survival games. Dead Space, FEAR, first part of Undying and even a little bit of Doom 3 (more jump scares than anything though) have all scared the crap outta me. It would seem that this game might scare me as well, but so far no. I do love the atmosphere though and the gameplay. Looking forward to beating this.
