I myself have been addicted to many mmo's... when I first started playing them. After you get through a third of your max level though, that's when I find them to become boring and repetetive. I'm glad you're enjoying it though. HOpefully it's because you've found cool people to group with and not because you think it's the best game ever. Cuz honestly, it's not. It's accessible and colorful but definitely not deep.
It might be just me but having spaceships crash into a medieval world totally ruins any flow that game might have had.
Yes, I was addicted to WOW as well until I hit the end game and the expansion came out and I realized what a waste it all was. Since you are only 2 days in, my advice is to save yourself and your life by canceling your account, deleting the game from your hard drive, and either giving away the physical discs or throw them out the window of a very tall building. WOW isn't a game. MMO's are not games. They are drugs. Friends don't let friends do Warcrack, and friends don't let friends do MMO's.Cerza
I play it when I want for fun, its only addicting and gets silly if you want it to.

Yeah, I was questing with a couple of people that I met the first night I was playing. They helped with my questions about the game and helped me on a few of the quest. It's by no means the best game ever or even the deepest game, but it's still fun.
at my first playing i played 15 hours nonstop. but i was bored before even lvl50.
hope you can get rid of it soon
I like WoW as while I am playing, I can just chill with my friends, chat and maybe pvp or something. Im kind of bored of it now but still play as I have yet to find another game that will hold my attention.
I guarantee 90% of the people saying gameplay is "boring and repetitive" havent gotten past level 20, Id probably not play nearly as much if my RL friends didnt play too though.
Its a great game. Go ahead and play it a bunch for the first few days, 'tis the Summer, andisnt that what we all do when we get an awesome game?
Just remember, the game is not about getting to the highest level, its about the journey there. So take your time, and remember that there is a real world out there with people that love/like and respect you in it.
It's drugs, and you get addicted and throw your life away. Sounds like fun ^^

 I can quit whenever I want to.
Seriously, I'm not THAT addicted, it just I never really have marathon gaming sessions, but last night I played for about 5 hours straight and didn't realize it. I guess I should have said engrossed and not addicted. But sure as with any game, it'll get boring over time and I still have 27 days left on my free trial, so for now it's fun.
Aye, 2 days isn't really much to go on, but be careful. It's a very addictive game, and I think that's why it's such a success. It practically prints money for Blizzard non-stop. I was once addicted, and would spend 10 - 12 hours a day playing, would even take days off work just to spend time raiding. Quite sad, and very frightening now that I look back on those dark times.
Haven't played in over 8 months, and I wish I had never played. Simply because of the impact it was having on my day to day life. Just be careful. I've witnessed relationships and marriages fall apart from this game. But then, addiction has that affect on people :P
Can't really add anything to this thread, so consider it more of a justification of what everyone else here has said. Play in moderation! :P
Am I like the only person who DIDN'T get addicted? Sure I played it alot because I enjoyed it but when I got bored I just quit without another thought. I just really couldn't be stuffed getting up at 8am on a Sunday to run a damn 4 hour instance with a bunch of losers.
Not saying all WoW players are losers, just my old guild they were good when they were small but when they got bigger they turned into rude selfish pricks never letting half the guild do any instances and selling epic items people wanted so all the officers could get a bit of gold and expected everyone to pass of items when they did get into a raid so one of the officers could get their 2nd fulltier on epics when others had none. They were horde yakka on ner'zhul by the way.
Sorry that was a bit of a rant there but yeah I still don't know how people can get addicted. It's a good game but not great. :Pdarklord888
I didn't. I played it until it wasn't fun anymore and I quit. It was a lot of fun for nearly 2 years, but the end-game content is a resounding failure. The expansion was OK, but more of the same. People say "addiction" a lot, but I doubt more than 1% of people are actually ADDICTED to any game out there. It just happens to be more fun than most of what else you could do at the moment, so you play the game. Doesn't mean people go to a tropical resort and can only think about what they are missing in their precious video game.

You know what I took from that clip?
1. There is a young man with severe emotional issues (anger) completely unrelated to WoW
2. There is no presence of a an authorative figure, nor of a father
3. There is a mom who lets her son control her life and refuses to put her foot down (she also had perhaps the most disgusting teeth Ive ever seen).
4. There is a reporter providing a one-sided argument against the game: yes, one kid in your piece is addicted and one chinese kid killed himself, but whatever about the other 4+ million players. Clips like this are used either to deceitfully persaude neutral people or to reinforce the beleifs of those with their minds made up.
So, to sum up, nothing in there had anything significantly to do with WoW. I see a mom who needs to take the computer away (it is her PC, the kid is young, out of work, and doesnt go to school) and confront her child and take him to therapy. If I had to guess I would say she is a single parent, and she wants to be loved by her son instead of respected, so she is as guilty as he is for the continuing addiction. Who the hell do you think pays for the game? The out-of-work son? Dont think so!
Cut the kid off: provide him with three square meals a day, a roof, and education, and tough-love!
I could show my mom that clip, and she would problably believe it. She is a middle school councilar so she deals with kids and their problems all the time and knows about addictions and crap. But would she even suspect that her son who just graduated college, has a job as a microbiologist lined up, and has a girlfriend and lots of friends plays the game? Nope, she would problably just assume the game is evil.
Shame on people for creating clips like this and jumping on the bandwagon. I seem to recall a similiar time period where paranoia was rampant. We too watched a video about it, I think it was called Reefer Madness...
WoW = Waiting on Warhammer
That said, yes, I still play it. It's not bad but it's gotten pretty stagnant.
You can pass your time playing that, but in the end, all it is, is the same thing, over and over. It gets so boring. I still have it on my computer, I'm level 67, so close to the end, and I have no desire to play it. WoW sucks after you play it enough, it's so pointless and I'm waiting for Age of Conan. That's gonna be tight. If you haven't read about it, go and read up. Your guild can build it's own town! WTF! that's awesome!

I completely agree.. OMG Reefer Madness, how rediculous is that...

Honestly, to play a game for so long must mean its good, if it wasn't you really wouldn't have played it now would you. I too quite wow after the bc but still recommend the game to anyone.

Very well sad, all it really takes is some real life slap in the face for the kids to wake up. If parents are not monitor what they kids do, they are as in fault as well.
Being ignorant and not responsible adult as a parent will cause this issue constantly. It's sad but we live in the world like this every day and majority just tries to ignore the issue and let it go.
Well, when you let it go for a long period of time some issue are to hard to fix, and some require long medical or professional help.
I know it's old news for everyone, but I thought that I'd share. I just started playing WoW 2 days ago and I am hooked! I have completely stopped playing my 360. I think I spent 16 hours over 2 days playing. Anyone else spend an insane amount of hours playing this game?EnderSR388
Don't fall to the dark side
It's all about moderation. It can be quite fun in small doses. Quit before it starts feeling like work though.Hrothgar
yeah. people get obsessed wanting to get to lvl 60 or 70! it's just stupidassbullcrap. people should play and treat wow like any other game not life style.
Anyone that was truely addicted, would not be posting about it here.. they would be far to busy playing the game they are so badly addicted to. ;) Rattlesnake_8
