I'm getting this rig for about 900 CAD. Is it worth the money and will it be a good PC to begin PC gaming? Will it last me a while?

4GB DDR3 RAM

AMD X4 955

500GB HDD

Coolmaster RC 330 Case

Its a decent build. Double the ram if you have the money. Another 4 gigs should run you about 100 bucks

That'l be good. Of course there are better, but there is no doubt that PSU will run your rig without trouble.

Is getting 8GB RAM right now really worth it? Or should I just upgrade to that later? Now that I think about it, I don't think my motherboard supports my DDR3 RAM:

Anyone have suggestion for good motherboard? This one has a DDR3 chip. Is it good:

if its just gaming the TC is interested in then 8GB of ram is pointless. no game, not even crysis, will make use of it. I have a very similar setup TC and i can tell you its pretty darn good. anything i throw at it runs without a hitch overall. just remember to get a good quality power supply. 700W is fine but make sure it comes from a good manufacturer. also make sure to install the 64 bit version of whatever OS you intend to use...otherwise you wont be able to access all your ram.

For that build, you really don't need anything more than a good 650w. Try this one instead. It has more than enough power for your needs, and will be able to support all the video cards in the market today, including the 5970.

I would suggest pricematching it on NCIX, as Directcanada does have slightly unreliable customer service. And if you do have 500 NCIX rewards points, then you could cash it in for free ground shipping.

Huh? Why would you want 8GB's of RAM? Let alone 6GB's. For extra money, I'd go for what NSR34GTR suggested.

Do you have any suggestions for a good budget case? Is Antec 300 good enough?

4GB is fine, until games start being made in TRUE 64-Bit fashion they aren't even going to be able to access anything above 4GB. That is the limitation of 32-bit gaming. Even if you have 24GB of RAM, a 32-Bit game is only going to be able to access 4GB, which may also encompass the memory that the OS is using.

I would pick up the PSU ravenguard90 suggested. You should also get a CPU cooler like, whatever his name, suggested. If you don't want to spend a lot of money on it, you could get a Artic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro Rev.2.

Here are some cheap, but respectable coolers that you can look at:

- Vendetta 2 at 20.60CAD

- Freezer 7 Pro at 29.99CAD

- Hyper 212 for 22CAD

Some cases to consider:

- Antec 300 at 53.88

- NZXT Gamma at 44.99(best one of the bunch, imo)

- Cooler Master Elite 335 at 36.30

And lastly, some AM3/DDR3 motherboards for you:

- ASUS M4A77TD Motherboard at 83.20

- Gigabyte GA-770T-USB3 Motherboard at 84.85

- MSI 760GM-E51 Motherboard at 70.82 (needs an extra SATA cable)
