That's something I thought I'd never say, but I believe the day has arrived that I just really can't deny it. It seems like every game I have and buy nowdays has some sort of annoying bug that I have to wait forever to be fixed. Modern Warfare 2 crashes all the time with a bug that people all over the net seem to thing there is no real way around and nobody ever plays it. I have a bunch of new games that always crash too, Alien VS Predator being the latest. I have loved PC gaming forever and really don't wanna convert to console. Yet, I seem to be playing PS3 a lot more now....and it always works. I don't have to mess with anything it all just works. I love the graphics on PC, the controls, and the prices of games on sale.....but the frustration is beginning to over-rule all that. Here's my PC specs, maybe I just have a gay PC but it seems to work pretty well. Anyone have some inspiration or tips?

AMD 6000+ Dual Core
Geforce GTS 250 1GB
4GB Ram
Windows 7 32bit
320GB Harddrive
Acer 24inch 1080p monitor (very sweet)

Seems to me like it's time for a processor that isn't 5 years old. You are bottlenecking your processor in all honesty. I've had very little problems in games on my PC. You also may want to try updating all your drivers.

And also, AvP and Modern Warfare 2.Try playing some actual games supported by the PC community and come back to us. No one plays them because they aren't that good.

What is the bug that crashes MW2 that is all over the net? I haven't had any problems with MW2 (other than a bit of slowness) on my Pentium D or the Core 2 Quad.

There's only one tip for this situation, avoid bad games. MW 2 was never fixed, but at least it's not as horrible as it was at launch, besides CoDs are of questionable quality and you should always expect problems, they all started with MW 1, game crashed because of headphones, mics, etc can't even imagine how they would code MW, W@W, MW2 and BlOps to even crash simply because you have such things plugged in your PC. As for AvP there were a lot of complaints with performance and support was garbage.

Just inform yourself more on games, don't pre-order, read reviews and see for the games you want if there are reports of performance issues, there's the possibility of getting lucky and running certain games that have lots of problems without any glitches or bugs, but there's also a chance you might never get them running.

I notice a corellation from people that are going off PC gaming are shooter nuts.... it just pops up time and time again. PC community is moving past these arcadey shooters. MW2 isnt anywhere near as good as CoD4 ... go play that, works better and has TONS more people playing it, hell even CoD2 does... why? despite being older games they are flat out better. AVP is just a bad developed game end of stories and sucks equally on consoles.

Never had those issues with MW2, I did have the issue though that the game sucks and has horrible bugs. That has nothing to do with PC gaming, the xbox version is the same, crap game is crap.

This seems more like a system wars thread to be honest.

There are plenty of great pc games these days, just nto all of em are onlien FPS, try some other genres! The Witcher2 and TOtal War Shogun2 are my fav games so far in 2011, awesome amazing pc games.

As dude above me said... stop buyign crap games, AVP and MW2 are two of the worst games I have played this gen, try some others!

Realistically, if you have a bunch of games that keep crashing, it's probably about time to find what's causing it. If I let someone punch me in the face every time I played games, and never did anything to stop them, I might eventually stop playing games too.

Or maybe I'd just take some aspirin and keep playing.

It would be best to get games that are actually optimized for PC, rather than just being lazy ports. It's pretty easy to get a good idea if this is the case from reviews, unlike some other aspects of games.

Too many factors that could be contributing to this. You explore very few.

Ouch. I think a new proccessor is in order. Go for an i5, there about £150 and do the job good, or alternatively if you have the money spare buy an i7. 4GB RAM's fine for modern games, but some of them now are starting to overrun that. I have 6GB RAM and run games fairly smoothly.

I have the exact same set up accept for my video card is a GTX 460 and I don't have any issues with any of my games. Yea I can't max out graphics ( but I'm not a graphics whore anyway) and if there is a issue it is always a bug or a glitch within the game code. Like a few others have said, you need to play better games if you want better performance from your PC.

He'd have to go get a new motherboard too, but yea...seriously, that's a pretty terribad processor. My i5-2400 is a monster, I haven't had any issues yet.

What the heck? I've played MW2 over 210 hours on my current computer and at least 80 hours on an ancient integrated graphics dual core computer and never a single issue and I bought it near launch date(of course I had it on consoles first). The only issue I can think of someone might get is with the soften smoke edges, but that's easy to play without.

Tips? Replace everything except the monitor - you need a new PC.:) I'm running a 64-bit OS, and I can still run games for XP.

Funny, ever since I built my last rig I haven't even touched my consoles. Normally I don't have much problem getting games to run unless it's something to do with resolution (old games or trying to get eyefinity to work, which being a niche solution I fully expected to have issues with a lot of games). The only frustrating moments come with normal computer problems like odd performance issues, higher than expected temps, a computer that won't boot, etc.

Same here... ever since I got my PC i've barely touched my consoles. My games were collecting so much dust I sold 70 percent of them to pre-purchase upcoming PC games :P

Ok before I even say anything. Can you clarify if the crashes are referring to crashing to desktop or crashing the whole computer with the other games besides MW2?

Don't be an ***. If he likes those games, leave him be.

If your PC games are crashing, then it is probably a technical problem with your computer. It isn't a problem with the whole idea of PC gaming. You need to take some troubleshooting steps, or seek help to find out why you are crashing.
