Hi, the kind of RTS that im looking for is similar to the game "Soldiers: Heroes of WW2" or the "Commandos" series. I want the game to have pretty good graphics, dosnt have to be too good, but must be 3d. I also want their to be some sort of an inventory system, like where you can take ammo from dead bodies, and take guns, and just pick up stuff and put them in your inventory. I would also like the setting to be during WW2, but this dosnt matter much to me. If you guys know of any such games please post here

Do not post these games, i already know of them and dont like them

1. Company of Heroes
2.Panzers
3.Jagged Alliance
4.Robin Hood

Again if you know of this type of game, please tell me, its the only types of games i like, and there sooo hard to find!!

Two words for you:

SILENT STORM!

I think this is exactly what youre looking for.  Its an awesome WWII-themed strategy.  It is turn-based, but dont let that turn you away because it is awesome.  its also go some RPG elements to it, you can loot dead bodies and pick up guns, and it is in 3D...and best of all, the buildings are destructible so if you toss a bomb down a second story hallway, there is gonna be a hole in the floor going down to the first floor!

Think of it as a turn-based tactical WWII strategy game with a dash of Jagged Alliance and a pinch of Fallout.

I agree with mrbojangles. Silent Storm sounds pretty much exactly what you are looking for.
Also, give Faces of War (I think thats what it is called) a try, it seemed exactly like Soldiers: Heroes of WW2 to me. I believe the same developer... developed it.

The First Person Shooter "Chrome" has an inventory system. Though it is a FPS so you're only controlling a single person.

The game "Vampire the masquerade - Redemption" is a point and click that allows you to control up to 4 people, and also has an inventory system. Though I guess it would be considered an RPG it's still a top-down P&C game.

You should keep an eye out for _Theatre of War_ by 1C. It's not out yet (should be released in a couple of weeks), but it'll have most of the features you're talking about and more.  You'll definitely be able to take over enemy vehicles and use the crew-served weapons they leave behind, though I don't know if it goes so far as to let you search the bodies.

Soldiers and Commandos are both tough games,  and this one should fit that bill too, since it looks like 1C is going for a high level of realism and tactics.  They're putting a lot of emphasis on the AI and on realistic damage and projectile modeling.  The graphics might not be as fancy as a Company of Heroes, though.

You are not going to get to do a whole lot of what you said in this game, but if you like Commandos, then you will love Desperados. Apart from that, I cannot think of anything else.

The bottomline though is you'll have fun playing Desperados.

There isn't anything like it out there; the story's great, and the strategy is actually implimentable.

Nah, the guy's talking about tactical RTSs with no base building. Supreme Commander would not be suitable. Having said that, the game does have some shades of World War II in it. Battleships in the 36th century? Yeah, they're fun, but come on. Hmm, this reminds me. If the OP doesn't mind a slightly sci-fi setting, he might have some fun with Ground Control I and II.

Ground Control. Of course.
It doesn't have the inventory system you want, however it lacks all of the resource collecting and base building, found in most RTS games.
In the first game, you can configure your squads before you start the mission. Choose their special weapon and equipment, change their role on the battlefield (defensive, offence, recon and balanced) and even name them. Good stuff. Best of all, it can now be downloaded for free! so there is no excuse. ;)
The second GC game, Operation Exodus,  doesn't have the  configurable squads at the beginning of the game, instead you capture drop zones across the map and reinforce your army like that. Upgradable dropship included.

I know this is probably not what you're looking for, but try the Hearts of Iron series centered around pre-WWII and beyond.  Although some consider it a RTS game, it's more like a limitless board game on your computer with the most advanced AI I've ever encountered in a game. No game is the same and it lets you get a glimpse of the world if different events ocurred.  If you're into historically accurate games with attention to every detail, then this game is for you.  Company of Heroes easily beats out the others mentioned!

Dawn of War and I think also CoH are still base-building RTSs. What the OP was referring to were tactical RTSs where you get a set few number of units per each battle, and there is no base building.

lol all these games that you guys have mentioned, ither iv played them already or i there not what im looking for....maybe this will help...the ability to choose our weopons and pick up weopons from dead enemies and crates and stuff is very important to me, and also i would like there to be the ability of getting inside vehicles..but this is not as important. AND REALISM IS THE MOST IMPORTANT OF ALL THESE. setting is not as important but i would really love it if its in WW2 and i dont mind modern, im not too much into futuristic though..but i guess if its realistic and has the inventory system that i talked about its ok...so now if u know what type of game im looking for, please post....i thank everyone who has posted so far.

Well, mate, I'm trying, but your kind of game just doesn't get much press these days. There used to be a fad with Conmmandos-style games - heck, there was even a Star Trek one - but which has since seemed to have died down. I'm sure they're still around, they're just a little obscure right now. Okay?

Okay... Let me make this simple... If you have already played all the games of that type, you are just SH!T out of luck, because there aren't anymore. Every single one I could think of (Silent Storm, Jagged Alliance 2 Wildfire, E5 Brigade, etc.) you have either played or don't like the type of game. Games are not in infinite supply regardless of what the console shelves make it look like. You are after a game style that is well outside the mainstream and are lucky there are as many out as there are. Sorry, but you are just going to have to wait for another one to come out.

Joint Taks Force also has those things you mention.. although your "heroes" can clear an entire map.. (using just one) A little less "realistic" but definately more tactical than rush rush rush or turtle turtle turtle.

Ok in case anyone else is into these types of games, here are my recomendations to you

1.Soldiers: Heroes of WW2  (extremely good, my favorite game ever!)
2.Commandos 3  (commandos 1 and 2 are a bit old)
3.Hidden and Dangerous 2  (hidden and dangerous 1 is a bit old)

People please add to this list. read the very first post of this thread to get an idea of what types of games to suggest, again i think all of whom posted already.

Really not sure E5 Brigade is your thing. It's really a tech demo for the engine that is going to be used for both Jagged Alliance 3 and Jagged Alliance 3d (Yes, two different stories, same engine, same company, coming out around the same time). If it is really the 'perfect' game as you put it, you should also like Jagged Alliance 2, because it has a LOT in common with it and you have already made a point to say that Jagged Alliance is NOT what you are looking for... Makes me wonder if you've ever really tried it. From my understanding of gaming history it was the original, done totally tongue in cheek, Jagged Alliance that practically created the genre you are now looking for games in. It pretty much was the first. Jagged Alliance 2 (I suggest the Wildfire edition) is very much set the bar of the current generation of the genre, though its graphics now are looking very dated... Though, frankly, I can't stand Faces of War or the Commando series, so I guess it really can be the little things in the game that make the difference between 'great' and 'ick' in a person's opinion... Really not sure E5 Brigade is going to be your thing, though. It really has a lot more in common with Jagged Alliance than Commando.

Hmmmm. You know.. Thinking about it, there is another, similar genre that you might want to look at, if you haven't before... The UFO genre of games from UFO: Enemy Unknown (better known by it's US title: X-Com) and the UFO: Aftershock series.... The most recent (and currently played by myself) game in the genre is UFO: Afterlight. Gamespot says it's not out till next month, but you can get the European version now and I put a message in the game's forum telling where to find it. Also, very soon (assuming it isn't delayed again at the last second), UFO: Extraterrestrials is coming out. Same genre but two different stories in two different timelines by two different makers. There is base building elements to most UFO games, but they are very much Tactical games of the Silent Storm/Jagged Alliance Genre at the core.

i have tried jagged alliance 2 but the graphics is a huge down side, and e5 brigade looks much more modern, and this makes a huge difference for me, i looked at  a gameplay of e5 but now i dont like it as much, since it seems like its turn based, but ill give it a shot anyways. and iv looked into x-com already, not into it much.

Sorry, Chandu, but I wouldn't be surprised if no one apart from you liked the game. I tried it and was disappointed quickly.
