Like many other people here, I don't know much about computers. However, I heard the cheapest and best way to get a PC, is by building one yourself.

My budget is around 900 dollars (US), and I plan on playing games like Guild Wars 2 and Black Ops. Are there any tutorials (besides the sticky) that you can recommend to me? I don't want to mess up on buying the parts for it, and then later realize that it won't fit together..

I'd want something I (a total noob) can throw in together without much difficulty, any ideas? I appreciate the help!

Choose out some basic parts that you like and fit your budget and post them up here, there are many people that will help you from there.

When it comes to building, the sticky is very good. If you have a problem with a particular step, you could try searching for a video for just that step.

And of course, if you have any other problems, people here will be glad to help.

Well... Any computer is pretty easy to put together. It's honestly quite similar to Lego blocks :P It's just a matter of knowing what to look for when you are building it, and the guide on this forum is there for that reason. If you go on Youtube and type in 'PC building guide,' I'm sure there are plenty of videos there as well that can help you too.

As for your budget, what would you like to include in it? Typically, a custom build just includes the tower as it maximizes whatever you can get out of it. But if you need stuff like a keyboard & mouse, speakers, monitor, operating system (ie. Windows), etc., let us know and we'll see what we can do to help you out.

Do you need a monitor, keyboard, mouse, and speakers/headphones as well?

Just my opion but you could goto youtube and see if they have some videos about putting a pc together. I'm currently in the process of putting my own together and like you I have never put one together from scratch before but I have hear that it is really easy to do. Just to gve you an idea this is what I have Case; cooler master haf 932 full tower lack case PSU:Power Supply Ultra 750 watt HDD: Hard drive 1TB OS: windows 7 64bit home edition MOBO:motherboard asus m4n75td socket am3 nforce 750a sli atx raid sata gbit lan hybrid RAM: ocz gold dual cannel 2GB Now this is just me ok I'm going with a x6 CPU 2.8ghz and I think it will run all of my games just fine but as I said this is what I'll do. You'll probably should go for a high end x4 like a 3.4ghz or what ever is the fastest x4 gpu out there. Are you at all familur with any of the parts on a pc and if not then you should read up on them. Just to get an idea of what you want.

Wow thanks for the quick replies :)

Alright, so I really do need to spend some more time learning about the different parts. I plan on posting another thread after I get some basic knowledge down.. should have done the researching before I posted this :P

Even without instructions there is no part of the process that is even remotely complicated. Unless you are hamfisting parts into slots that they obviously dont go in or something, it is almost impossible to mess up since there is only one way to do any of it and that one way is ALWAYS painfully obvious.

I would loosely compare it those skill building games in pre school where you put the round pegs in the round hole and the square pegs in the square hole.

If you can do a paint by numbers coloring book you can build a computer.

So really. Dont be intimidated. Its probably the easiest thing you will ever spend 5 minutes teaching yourself to do.

Edit : The hardest part for someone new is probably just knowing what all they need to get and making sure all the parts are compatible. Actually building it is like i said before, extremely easy.
