If you need it for work just buy it then. If you're using it to make games tho it's a terrible idea.

I'm qualified in game design, but whatever. I used both macs and pcs during this and found the macs to be hugely inferior to doing anything on a pc concerning game design (granted I focused on the visual elements of 3d animation, asset creation and 2d illustration). I'm only telling you my personal experiences with it, there's no need to try and get personal. You'd just get far more power for your cash if you went with pc is all. Power which would save you a lot of time doing renders and such.

First you started the personal attacks by being a troll. And Lol! Game design. You don't render anything. At best you do 1% of a game, you are an idea person -- useless.

Just because my account is old does not mean I am a troll. If anything all you people are trolling me by not helping me. I see this site has gone down hill.

Lol, brilliant, I didn't realize suggesting that a mac for game design is a terrible idea would be taken as a personal attack. You might have also noticed I mentioned 3d animation and creating assets (models, textures, props etc.) but it goes without saying that concepts are a huge part of a games development either way. So putting being petty aside, are you a programmer? What will you be using the machine for specifically?

Now I know you have mental problems. Suggesting a mac is a terrible idea is not a personal attack, but giving stupid answers to serious questions are. Then again, I bet that is how you grew up, being treated like crap... Oh right you are crap... Again, get the f out of my post with your stupid comments you idea guy, that clearly has never developed a video game.

The new 27 in iMac JUST came out. It doesn't even ship till January for most people. 3.4GHz Quad-core Intel Core i7 8GB 1600MHz DDR3 SDRAM - 2x4GB NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680MX It'll run anything quite nicely, but developing games is entirely different. I don't know anything about that.

The thing is all the trolls, just want to troll or they don't know how to read. I didn't ask you if Mac was good or bad I asked if anyone knew if it was new release or not. Thus, if you say "mac sucks bla bla bla" you are trolling me instead of answering something related to my question. I also feel bad that you also think that I am someone else on the forums... Stop being paranoid, learn to read, learn to say things that actually add to a conversation or go waste someone else's time.

The programming side of it is exactly the same as PC. And the only reason you'd need a PC for the programming side of it is to use microsoft specific APIs, which you can still program on it you just can't compile and test on the same machine which in a professional environment isn't uncommon.

And also I wouldnt say never buy a mac, the macbook air is the best ultraportable out right now like it or not, overpriced or not.

Thanks for clearing that up on the programming side of things, good to know. I did ask the op if he was using it from a visual design angle or programming but... Well you can read the attempt rofl.

Well this got out of hand real fast. OP, new iMacs are available in 21.5 inch. The 27 inch will be ready to ship in January. Check it out.
