Impact of Directx 10 on a graphics card

Hi,

I've just got a graphics card that supports Directx10. I've loaded up Far Cry 2 which has the option to toggle between Directx9 or 10. In theory, will setting it to Directx10 place a greater burden on my card, or make it easier to run?

Far Cry 2 as tested by HardOCP gave better performance and visuals in DX10.

Crysis,CW and STALKER:CS on the other hand only worked well on DX10+high res+ AA+AF on SLI configurations needing 3 videocards. FC2 was defiantely dumbed down for the consoles.

wrong. You can turn on or off the features you want of course. It actually increases the efficiency of your card by combining the vertex and pixel shaders. This means that instead of splitting it 40/60 or 50/50 between the two and then maxing out one first, you have full flexibility to use them shaders as needed.

DX 10 was supposedly to perform better than DX 9, while adding new visual improvements... However, so far, DX 10 only delivers the visual improvements...
