You're asking a question that doesn't have an answer, because no one can see 3 years into the future. But it would be adequate to at the very least play games well for the next 3 years, and you'd probably be able to lengthen its lifespan quite a bit by just upgrading your video card in about 2-3 years.

it definitely won't play games on high settings for 3 more years. even an 8800GTX wouldn't do that. but you'd get pretty good performance for the lifespan of the computer. it just won't dominate everything it comes by as the games and technology progress

hey man, you have chosen basically the exact same computer i have built... Now the thing to think about is will your pc become obsolete in 3 or 4 years... yes if you keep what you have in it, but... since you have an upgradeable computer you can add some stuff to it once a year you know... The first thing to think about is the fact that if you get a SLI motherboard you could easily double your computers performance. So make sure to get a 680i or similar for that has the best SLI capabilities and a LGA 775 socket that can have a quad core in it which is yours... So whenever you need to you can upgrade RAM, Processor, and another video card and have no compatibility issues. when they build a quad core processor that runs 1333 fsb is when you should get the processor and all. So hope you learned a little lol. Build it, its a good time to build imo. (only thing is that g92 series is coming out soon and 8 core processors are in the future) so its always dreadful to see that in the future.

going SLI doesnt "easily double" your computer's performance. It will definately improve it, but not double it.

same pc as me my friend..well in a week or two i will have the 8800gts 320mb and i only have an e6600...haha but other than that we are like twins!! haha anyway im just hoping the 8800gts 320 mb will be able to max games nowadays. like crysis and bioshock. because the 8600gts i have in there now just doesnt cut it. and if this new card doesnt make me happy i will just buy another when i have the money cause my motherboard is sli compatible.

All games on high in 2010? Nope. You shouldn't have problems playing most games, but there's always badly optimized games.

I think you should be fine with that setup for the next couple of years. The reality is that even though the technology will improve, games will still be being programed with the 1st gen dx10 engines so its not likely that the system specs for games will go up a lot in the next 2 years even if the technology allows it.

going SLI doesnt "easily double" your computer's performance. It will definately improve it, but not double it.

I meant easily double the graphics performance... and yes it does double it, there have been tests... sorry no source lol. where the performance was raised by 97 percent.... 100=dubble!. but usually 80-95 depending on drivers for SLI and cards... lol. So technically youre right... =(
