[QUOTE="AFBrat77"][QUOTE="StopThePresses"] No. The whole point of them doing a sequel was so they could rebuild the game mechanics from the ground up. Also, it's set about 250 years later, which incidentally is roughly about how long it will be before they show any gameplay footage.

However, my understanding is......the titles your characters get and place in the Hall of Monuments (located in Eye of the North expansion) will carry over to GW2 in the form of additional content or quests or such. Your name for your characters will also be reserved for your account should you wish to use it for that game.
I haven't read anything that implies additional quests. They haven't revealed specific details yet, but it sounds to me like maybe one will get vanity items or something for Hall of Monuments stuff. They have stated that no gameplay advantage will be conferred by it. I suspect it won't be all that different from the collector's edition or preorder bonus items that often come with MMORPGs, such as the exclusive pet with the collector's edition of World of Warcraft. I think it's going to probably be one of those things people largely forget about a week after they get the game. The reserved name thing is good, but if your desired name is still available at this point then chances are it's still going to be available when GW2 comes out, unless it deals specifically with GW lore or something.http://www.guildwars.com/events/press/releases/pressrelease-2007-03-27.php
read about halfway down......
so actually it says "And for those looking even further down the road at Guild Wars 2, Guild Wars: Eye of the North will provide a Hall of Monuments where players' accomplishments are memorialized and eventually inherited by their Guild Wars 2 characters, unlocking exclusive items and bonuses in Guild Wars 2."
.....ok I wasn't exactly correct but as you see, "unlocking exclusive items and bonuses in Guild Wars 2"
Works for me.
