are u sure the d3dx file is in the right directory? ive just checked my PC and found a load of those files in my windows/system32 folder. this is on a XP media center edition though. perhaps reinstalling DX 9 or 10 will fix the problem and ensure the file is installed correctly. u could also have the wrong version of the file (my PC has a few with _27 to _30 at the end of their names) so reinstalling DX should fix that too.
again im basing this on XP. Vista could be very different. a quick google search should help.
so to get all of the updates, i need to install every patch they've released?IMAHAPYHIPPO
No, you just have to find one that goes from your version that you currently have to the lastest.
vistas far from fun my friend.. its a headache in a box.. hell hte box is a headache.. took me 10 minutes (literally) to even figure out how to open the damn thing. but while im at it.. does anyone know how to get the fancy 3d aero windows thing to work? IMAHAPYHIPPO
For the DLL files that you mentioned before, they need to go into C:\Windows\System32 not the Nvidia folder. As for Aero, right click the desktop, then choose personalize and there you should have access to choose Aero.

Upgrade directX and upgrade drivers should solve your problems. I have the game and not a single problem.
