Hey dudes,

For the most part I've avoided Indie games. However, I recently realized this was an awful mistake. So far I've played Outland, I'm currently playing Bastion and have Limbo on my waiting list which I got through the Steam or Amazon Summer Sales. They're just awesome.

I was wondering if there are any other games I was missing that are similar to these that you could recommend. Thanks in advance!

I recently beat Thomas Was Alone, I'd recommend that.

You can always play the "cinematic platformer" classics like Another World, Flashback or Heart of Darkness.

Try out Braid. I found Braid and Limbo to be among the best 2D platformers this gen.

If you like stealth games then Mark of the Ninja is fun.

I loved Limbo, but from what I have played of Bastion, it bores me. Sure the art style is great and it is neat how the world rebuilds around you, but the actual gameplay to me sucks.

Bastion and Limbo are quite different. So I cannot give you precise comparisons, but I can split them up. The best in-between of the two is probably Trine 2. It blends responsive combat with different tools of engagement with physics based puzzle/platforming that toys with cognitive elements: water, steam, flow, mass etc. just like with the latter parts of Limbo. If you like the physics based puzzle platforming bit of Limbo, I'd recommend Vessel and Capsized; both are solid. As for Bastion, It's hard to find a comparison. The closest I could think of is Deathspank, which is more heavy on the looting aspect, but delivers an equal array of weapons to use, with some challenges to mix things up.

I found Limbo amazing but hated Bastion. Bastion felt similiar to Dust an Elysian Tale which I also hated. Though the voice acting in elysian tale is dreadful and I don't usually care about voice acting. People say wasn't the voice acting bad in deus ex for example and I am like 'well er what, they were just speaking'.

Does Bastion get better? I mean its colourful and the narrator... I could see people liking - not me. But the gameplay was incredibly repetitive.

A big part of Limbo which impressed me was the soundtrack. Braid has a nice soundtrack too so I think i'll give that a go based on recomendations in this thread. And Thomas was alone.

Mark of the Ninja kept me playing with its gameplay and reminded me of the saturday morning cartoons I watched as a child.

I think Mirrors Edge might be enjoyable by someone that liked Limbo. Can't put my finger on why though.

The Swapper is very good. Also Ace of Spades, Capsized, Antichamber and Hotline Miami.

Flashback was an awesome game!

Any way to play the original Flashback?

Another world in on GOG.com but Flashback is elusive.... Im excited about the remake but it looks like a lil too much of a shoot-em-up compared to the orginal.
