Sounds like full on damage control. Should IW put something else out, it would be expected to meet or exceed departed talent. I would expect a MUCH different experience for the next installment in the series. Who knows? Could blow away everything they've thrown out there so far. Doubt it tho.

it's MOHAA vs. COD all over again, EA said Medal of Honor wouldn't be affected by the departure of 2015's top talent to Activision

lo and behold, COD kicked MOH's ass so hard, it never recovered

Well imo they haven't been able to make a competitive product since 2007 (even with full staff), but I'll give them the benefit of the doubt.

If you ask me Treyarch does a pretty good job with the CoD series and they don't have the top IW talent.... I mean WaW was probably one of the best WW2 fps games I've played and CoD3 was a fair effort if you take into consideration they only had 9 months (instead of 2 years) to develop it.

I just think that now that the formula is there it won't be too hard to make new cod games... who knows maybe some new brains inside the IW studio could turn out well? Because it isn't like we saw a huge improvement from MW1 to MW2

I said this in another thread, but look at what Treyarch has created in terms of Call of Duty games... not much. IW for the most part (up to MW2) had created the formula and then Treyarch just copied it and changed a little here and there. I don't know if Treyarch can actually create the true next CoD experience without it being a blatant copy of MW2. Also they can still make a competitive product without all those developers, but it won't be the CoD that we are used to. It will most likely feel like a new game with a new direction that just won't have the CoD feel. It could be competitive for sure, but it won't be a real CoD. Also scoots9, when they say competitive they mean sale numbers. Liking or disliking call of duty has nothing to do with it as long as it sells. That is what they mean by competitive. And we all know bad games can end up selling a lot... just look at anything on the Wii not made by Nintendo.

I'm sure Treyarch's copy of MW2 will sell very well when it comes out. With decent marketing IW could probably make the game after that sell fine too. Whether or not the series survives after that is anyone's guess. I'm going to go ahead and say "no".

Oh I agree that Treyarchs next installment will sell well, but I can't see them really taking the reigns over as the big CoD developer and I don't think the new recruits that will be brought into IW to fill the positions will be able to really replace the shoes of the old developers. Like I said though, I have no doubt the next CoDs will sell extremely well and be competitive, but I just don't think they will feel like true CoD games (well maybe Treyarchs) and they definitely won't progress like CoD has in the past. And since most people that play CoD probably won't know about the lead developers leaving, they will certainly buy the next IW CoD game regardless.

Activision didn't hire Treyarch to innovate within the series, they hired them to create fillers between each IW release. All I was trying to say is that now that IW has put the formula in place it isn't hard to replicate with or without this so called talent.

The zero (or negative) improvement between MW1 and MW2 just proves this. I would say BlackOps is looking like a much more compelling title than MW2 from what little we know.

It would be really interesting to see how EA would capitalize on this. Hopefully MoH will be a great game, and people will forget about CoD. Too much to ask? I think so, but you never know.

Aslong as they stick the Call of Duty MW logo on the front they could sell crap in a box to the majority of people who bought it.

This ^ Gamers are quite the sheep. Just look at that $15 DLC Infinity Ward put out for MW2. 2.5+ million downloads. Yeah... they'll buy anything.
