Okay..

So this is not quite about a game. But I couldn't find a particular 'software' forum.
Basically, my PC can't handle an ingame recording program. Fraps, whatever, they all quit within 5-30 seconds of the Recod button. I have no idea why this is the case and would really love to solve it. If anyone has had the problem or knows what's wrong, please do feel free to post here.

Thanks in advance

P.S. If this is the wrong forum, tell me.

What I forgot to add is that I run a Core2duo E6300, 2gb RAM and a 7900GS. Windows Vista installed as OS.

You specs are faaaaaaaaaar above what's needed to run fraps. The free version will only record for 30s anyway.

camstudio has an unlimited free version which lets you record full screen with sound and no annoying text on it. I don't know if it will run on vista though.

You need to actually buy the full version of Fraps to record for however long you want (or until disk space runs out!). The free version can only record 30 second fragments and will have a fraps watermark on top. There is also a program called GameCam.

Your comp is practically the same as mine, except for the RAM and video card (you have a 7900GS, I have a 7600GT, my pipelines are better than your if you didn't OC it :P).  It should only record 30 seconds anyways if you have the free version of Fraps.  If you buy the full version it will record....I forgot how much, but it will also include sound.

Thanks for the replies. I'm pretty sure i'm using the normal licensed versions. The problem is, after a undefined amount of recording time, my framerate drops rapidly until it reaches 0 and then my game more or less freezes/crashes. Maybe it's because of Vista?

I still haven't been able to figure out what's wrong. Same problem still there. I have the full version of fraps, yet after about 10 seconds in any game, framerate drops to 0 and the game freezes up. Small note is that this also happens with any other type of recording software I try out. Any help would be VERY welcome!

Fraps will only record 30 seconds at a time i think. I have used the latest version a few times without any problems and t's vista compatible.
