So far, there are three really good MMO's on the horizon that I'm scoping out: World of Warcraft, The Lord of the Rings Online, and Pirates of the Burning Sea.

I've played World of Warcraft before, and I can see how addicting it can get, with all of the possibilities you have, but what makes LotR Online and Pirates different from WoW. I've always been a fan of LotR, but I'm wondering if cancelling my WoW subscription (I hardly play the game anyway) would be worth it to subscribe to LotR instead. What makes LotR different from WoW? There's still the common basis of the game, as in all MMO's: Kill a lot of stuff, but what makes it all different?

And then again, I might want to cancel my WoW subscription to subscribe to Pirates instead. With all of the MMO's out there, Pirates is one of the only ones in which they have forgotten the basis of common MMO's and have started from the ground up.

So what should I do? Try LotR, wait for Pirates, or stick with WoW?

I've played lotro, and it's amazing and way better than WoW:

the quests are more discriptive and it's easier to find the location you're looking for.

I like the classes/races more.

Really nice graphics.

Animations are a tad funny, but you get used to the way hobbits run :P

lotro is designed to look like a war/battle, so a lot of the moves are as if you're in a fight. For example, my captain has a skill that after you kill a mob you can heal the party (boost their morale) and the skills is basicallly the toon swingining her arm up and shouting....supposed to look like a motivation to fight harder - hence the boost in morale (hp recovery).

Overal, it's just a fun game and it's rather immersive.

Get rid of WoW.

Lotro has a decent population, a good game system, less 8-year olds playing, less cartoony graphics. Overall better (IMHO) than WoW.

As for Pirates of the Burning Sea, it looks pretty and quite original, but I'm not sure about the population...That's alwaysoneof the first questions one should ask about MMO's

LotRO sure does look enticing, but should I wait for Pirates just in case?

I say go with LOTRO. These days you can't trust what devs say about their games until you play them. And it's widely known that LOTRO provides a fun experience if it's your type of game. At least until Pirates comes out and you can see some reviews then.

I've always wanted to try LOTRO. Is there a free 10 day trial or anything?
