I am trying to install a few games like FEAR onto my brothers computer which he recently purchased. And me not liking vista never really did learn any of the new things except its harder to work with games. I try using autorun on the disc and it brings up the first menu like always except when you select any of the options nothing else pops up. And after 5 mins you realized nothing is going to happen >.> The only game that allows you to navigate the menus I noticed is the pirated version of Oblivion I have and not the legit version I tried. So I was wondering if there is something else we need to do to make legit games work on this machine instead of pirated versions?

Yeah, don't use vista, run XP as a dual boot and keep Vista for when DX10 games come out

every game I've installed in Vista has ran great, even older games like GTA3 and Duke Nukem - Manhattan Project
disable the UAC (User Account Control) before the install, it might help

No problems with Vista gaming here either. I would say end-user problems are the most likely culprit....
