just wondering if this will hold up with age of conan, etc. If so what kind of performance will it give for age of conan, and other tasks as well?

Good to hear people confirming this, as it's what I'm buying. I figured I would've seen at least one response for the e8400.. :)Frantz22
Now that you mention it, I would take an E8400 over a Q6600 any day, as I'm strictly a gamer, and I'd rather have a faster dual core CPU based on a 45 nm than a quad for gaming at this point in time. In the future, who knows. I have been eyeballing a Q9450 though to be honest ;)

Is there any diference IN Age of Conan between them? Cause it's the only game he's playing atm and future games will probably go better on Q6600 or not?
I know everybody says Q6600 - soon EOL, but E8400 will be obsolete even faster.

There might be a difference at very low resolutions..but at typical game settings, there should be no noticable performance difference between the two.
The same holds true for most other modern games. Performance is almost always heavily GPU-limited.

E8400 is faster than Q6600, at the moment. Q6600 is future proof.
