Good. But Intel used these kinds of strategies before, especially when their first lines of P4's became available. The price cut then had more to do with high TDP and temp issues that Intel couldn't resolve before the deadline was reached, and to act on this issue, they lowered prices real fast. IIRC, I've seen this table a couple of weeks ago already, but that one was planned for Q3/2007. The only thing that really changed is the date of price cut, not the price itself. Oh well, the sooner, the better. :)

yep... Q3 2007 >>>>> 2H 2007, prices are the same projected cuts, but us consumers get to enjoy it earlier! Makes you wonder how this will affect AMD's ballgame right now....

Short R&D actions aren't really a thing that should be considered. If the company is going to be very dynamic and already has some basic designs ready, it could act within a period of a couple of months, a short while after the announced price cut of Intel, but it will certainly be unable to act before the prices are going to be dropped. I think AMD either needs a miracle or an ace behind it's sleeve to counter that.

I can imagine this will maybe push AMD to release some Phenom benches as their only imaginable quick counter... we'll see....

maybe i should rename the thread title, "Intel pressured by AMD to move up price cuts"?, Phenom details + R600 is putting AMD at a high right now, their stocks rose from yesterday's 14.68 to now at 15.36... not bad....
