Wich one? It seems like you get more bang for your buck with AMD, but I heard Dual core is still better...

And I am trying to get good stuff, but pretty cheap. Intel is cheaper tho

The Pentium dual-core is the better chip, especially when overclocked (which it does better than the AMD).

The intel C2D's absolutely curb stomp their amd counterparts clock for clock. There are one or 2 budget options on the very low end where amd has the advantage but if you are buying a chip for games you wouldnt even know those 2 budget options exist.

Not only do the C2D's take amd to the yard @ stock they out pace them in oc'ing by an embarassing margin. What you can get out of a lapped and air cooled C2D you would be lucky to get out of an AMD even with chilled water.

There is absolutely no reason to get an AMD unless you already own an AMD mainboard and cant afford to make the switch.

Or require the still-superior scaling offered on multi-processor setups with AMD (mainly thanks to their integrated memory controller). Or if you plan on using high-powered onboard graphics, where AMD still leads the way, and by a rather impressive margin.

I had used the AMD platform since the Athlon Thunderbirds becuase Athlons were cheaper and gave good performance compared to price. But now, Intel with the Core 2 is just as cheap and offers far superior performance to K8 and even K9. Sadly, at the moment, AMD dont have anything to compete with Core 2. Phenom is not good enough. A good motherboard for C2D is what Im using, Gigabyte EP45 DS3. Cheaper than ASUS and with new P45 as opposed to P35 chipset. Lots and lots of BIOS parameters. But Im just using at stock because the system is so fast. I can play everything at max.
