$266... still expensive. My dual core will play well until I upgrade to quad core with $100.

Jan.

Intel will be launching their 45nm Xeons first, followed shortly by their EE 45nm desktop quadcore. Everything else is coming out in '08.

Stuff that, I'll buy a Q6600 tomorrow then.

...or might buy a slow LGA775 Xeon and overclock it once I get my X38 board. :D

With a BIOS update is what I've heard.

Also, Q9300 is a 6MB version. I've seen it in several places. Q9450 FTW :D

Great, just great...do I wait until late October/November to splurge and have a system capable of running Crysis on the day of its release, or hold off until January for the Penryn chips? (I could go for a Xeon variant beforehand, but you know what that means when it comes to cost...) Or maybe I should go ahead and make my move in November, and don't upgrade until equipment that makes Nehalem and whatever new graphics cards that are about to release look like yesterday's news a year or two from now.
