My 9 month old rig started making a new noise recently. It's kinda like an electric razor, but not that loud (just loud enough to be noticeable). Comes and goes at seemingly random times. I opened it up and noticed there's one side of the heatsink I've managed to avoid air dusting since I got the PC... Cleaned it out but I'm still hearing the noise every now and then. Also sometimes when I turn it on it makes a much louder revving sound for about half a second.

Any ideas? In the last month I've transferred about at least 3TB worth of content between several HDDs, leaving the PC on overnight several times. Is this considered too much strain? Is it worse on the HDDs or the CPU? Is anything about to die?! Haha I'm a little on the edge, would really appreciate some guidance

Its either the HDD about to fail, or the CPU/GPU fan making contact with something thats making the sound.

Or none of those. I doubt it's the HD. When you say it makes a loud noise when your turn it on, it's because the fan is at 100% when it starts up, I don't think it's a buzzing, but rather a fan htiting something.

But the TC said its 9 months old and only recently started happening, that's why I thought it was the disk platters or something contact another thing.
