I have a 5.1 sound system for my PC.

And am thinking of getting a Blue Ray for just watching movies on my 40" 1080 p. LCD TV

I recently bought an external Blue Ray player only to find out there are no speaker jacks on the player or the TV...I would need something called an AV ( Which are expensive )

Blue Ray with normal TV speakers..just blows...big time.

So if I put in an internal Blue Ray player I would get 5.1 just like I do for everything else..DVDs, games etc?

I've heard horror stories about people buying Blue Ray players only to find out they need to buy extra software just to get 5.1, but Dell assured me that I would get the full software to be able to get 5.1....but you never know.

Are the horror stories true ?....New Egg reviews are full of them.

I've been looking into buying a Blu-Ray drive myself as I had a stack of movies that I have (sold my PS3 so I can't watch any of them). I also keep hearing horror stories regarding playback software. A lot of people have been saying VLC can play Blu-Ray movies perfectly fine (and it's free). You'll still need to download a couple of files for VLC in order to get it to work.

I recommend not buying any software. This stuff should be free. Imagine buying a standard CD/DVD drive and you'd have to buy some sort of playback unlock in Windows Media Player. That's be bull. You can always put on your eyepatch and get something like PowerDVD 12 Ultra for free....

I have a similar thing, but I just use computer speakers instead. Although my computer is right beside the tv so that helps.
