betas are hit and miss, some people have luck and can run them with little issues. Others aren't so lucky and end up with problems.
For me I only test out betas on computers that aren't important to me or if something happens I can easily restore. I'll almost never try out a beta on my desktop system, I want it to remain stable.
I havent used IE as my main browser for years. How much better FF is over IE was one of the first things I learned after we got DSL and I was more active on message boards. Die IE.Spartan8907
Everyone keeps saying "firefox is better" but when i downloaded it i saw no speed increase whatsoever!

I dont know about other people, but I never said FF was faster, I said better, looking at it overall.[QUOTE="Spartan8907"]I havent used IE as my main browser for years. Firefox doesnt "increase your speed" it just is far more flexible while customizing than IE, that is why its my favorite :)

Bettr Protection. Basicly more people use IE so Hackers n spyware (and things like that) focus more on Getting through on IE so at this point Firefox is more seccure.
it can be faster. However the advantage to firefox is the interface is significantly better, its more secure, its got better features, and it just works better overall. I absoleutly hate IE7's interface, its just dumb and rather inefficient.
Oprah on the other hand does seem to 'feel' faster than the others.
However a browser is only going to do so much to improve your speed. The only important thing is your internet connection and the connection to the server your accessing.
I think its better now but a lot of people moved away from IE because it had a lot of security holes, and FireFox was better(secure) and imo its interface, customisation, everything is easier for me. I tried back IE7 but I just didn't like it, wasn't suited to it and so still using FireFox.
FireFox FTW! rightly so.
Opera's awesome! Aside from the seldom compatability issues. Overall its great. The speed dial function is so handy!Dan20six
I second the speed dial featuers. There are a lot of things in Operah that make it more desireable. For exampel viewing bank statements T_T. Opera is a decent browser but my choice is on Firefox still.
IE just sucks. I do notice speed increases with Firefox. When I first switched to Firefox pages that loaded up slowly were blazing fast. I almost cringe every time that I have to use it. Tabbed browsing was orginally from Opera, Firefox did it before v. 2.0 came out, and IE took 7 freakin generations. I don't trust microsoft as far as I can throw their headquarters, and I can't even find them. I would gladly move to linux, but getting everything situated on a new operating system, learning the new os, and everything takes FAR too much time to be a good idea at this point.
To make it short I don't use anything Windows unless I'm forced to, and even then I'm always looking for alternatives. Windows doesn't care about its userbase what so ever, they know that they have the majority, and they will continually screw people over. Case in point, look at the 360 and it's failure rates, how long it took to get a 3 year warranty up, look at the reviews for the Zune, and most importantly... if Microsoft cared about it's users tell me why they even released M.E. give me 1 good benefit of M.E. that was worth all the problems and bugs that never got fixed.
So keep using your 360s, your Zunes, your Windows Millenium Editions, your Windows Media Player (classic can be good but not the shipped one) keep dealing with constant crashes, bugs, security flaws, use Windows Defender (which you can google to find people that have had their computers screwed up by it) Remember that when you stop using M.E. and go to Vista to install A PATCH SO THAT WINDOWS MESSANGER WILL WORK... Trillian works, Yahoo works, but you have to patch the companies OWN INSTANT MESSANGER.
Like I said, I don't trust microsoft as far as I can throw their corporate office. I guarentee that IE 8 has no worthwhile features that make it better than what's already out, will cause tons of problems, bugs, issues, crashes, and will remain just anotehr sad microsoft product that's better, cheaper/same price, or completely unneccessary.
EVERY OTHER BROWSER FTW!!!!!!

The NASA Night Launch Theme for FF goes good with my XP's Zune theme :pI second the speed dial featuers. There are a lot of things in Operah that make it more desireable. For exampel viewing bank statements T_T. Opera is a decent browser but my choice is on Firefox still.wolfblademusic
I used Opera for quite a while. Still have it installed, actually. Firefox has historically been pretty terrible for me every time I've used it. I had stability issues with constant crashes in the official, full-release builds of Firefox and Firefox 2. Not only that, FF and FF2 just became lumbering resource hogs after any significant amount of running them. I saw insane amounts of memory consumption (>500MB) at some points.
I heard some good things about Firefox 3, so I decided to give the Beta a try. It's running quite well, and it seems Mozilla took some pointers from Opera, with the basic search functionalities built-in to the address bar (isn't implemented as well as Opera,) and the bookmark "tagging" (which sort of replaces bookmark nickname functionality found in Opera.) They also seem to have solved most of the resource management issues..I'm sitting at 65MB of consumption with a few tabs open, and I've been browsing for a while now. I think I'm going to stick with it, I missed a lot of these Firefox add-ons I couldn't use with Opera.
Even found an add-on called "Fast Dial," a clone of Opera's "Speed Dial." Works very well.

type in about:config in your URL and type in browser.sessionhistory, go to the total viewers option and set it to 0. also, while you are there, find network.http.pipelining..set it to true and change it to 10. That put some juice in to my firefox. I recommend that everyone who runs firefox does this.

I would have to agree. Firefox 3 so far is a nice improvement.
[QUOTE="Bgrngod"]Totally! IE 6 has no real issues. Seems a lot more user-friendly too.Isn't 7 still in beta?
I'm still rocking 6 since I've had nothing but problems with 7 on multiple computers.
Firefox FTW!!
Xtraflo
other than the susceptibility to spyware, malware, and viruses right?
