I have a Vista partition and an XP partition on my PC. I've noticed that the internet is half the speed on XP than on Vista. How can I fix this if possible? Tried turning the firewall off, etc.

ive noticed this too, I assumed it was due to the rewritten networking code in vista, as opposed to a bug with your xp install.

I guess Vista has some hardcore tweaking, I can open up Firefox faster versus opening it on XP.

Yeh my internet and firefox seem faster then they did on XP

Download the latest Vista (32 or 64bit - which ever you've got) network drivers for your motherboard and see if that helps, if not then findle around with your connection settings (IP's and that) and those on your Router ...

Your XP network stack may be a bit stuffed up; but I'm not sure how to fix that, bar a reinstall.

But I'd see if anyone else can come up with anything else before you go to that extreme.

Maybe you have a virus or spyware on your XP partition causing a slowdown? Just a thought.

Could it be something simple like the mtu setting being set to high and therefor causing more packet loss?

Zeta-IX

ADSL, using a wireless router. I don't think I have a virus or spyware, I have NOD32 installed. And I have no idea how to change the MTU setting :(

I'd use Vista but for some reason I can't use it because apparently my verification time is up - even though I verified it months ago. *sigh*...
