ipod annoyance

Apple has officially become more needlessly frustrating than Microsoft. Whenever I try to sync my iPod it tells me there isnt enough room and it says down the bottom of iTunes that there is 2.04GB taken up by 'other'... theres nothing else there. Its just audio. Well, it WAS until it deleted itself when I tried syncing again because it created a playlist (because it wouldnt all fit or something..) and decided it would be fun to skip a few albums and I couldnt get them on the iPod because there apparently wasnt enough room, what with the whole 'other' crap. I even had to convert the skipped albums and couldnt put them on individually, now I cant get any back on...

All I want is to put all of my music on my iPod. Can someone please tell me what to do?

I managed to get the songs back on with some of the missing albums, dont know at this point if there is anyting else missing. But the 2.05GB of 'other' is still there. I dont know what it could be, there are no videos in the iTunes Library (i deleted them thinking that must have been it) or on the iPod, that and it doesnt all add up to the 4GB its supposed to anyway...

and.. why does it feel the need to make 2, sometimes 3 copies of the one song?
