Hi,

I don't know if this is the right place, but I was wondering if someone could answer a question I have regarding the new iPod nano 8GB's battery: Apple states that this iPod's battery life stands for up to 24 of music usage. My question is if this also takes in to account the backlight usage, or does it assume that the backlight setting is set to "off"?

Thanks

WARNING! wall of text ahead!

Well, 24 hours is probably with no backlight, no EQ, and the volume turned way low :P Here's my test:

I listen to my nano for 15 minutes on the way to class with sound check (levels volume accross all tracks), an EQ turned on with the volume at 80%. It's not loud, as sound check is on. These use more power as the nano has to actively process the songs. Then, I listen to it for 5 minutes between classes (7 classes). Lastly, I listen for 15 minutes again on the way home, more or less if I need to go to Safeway. Consider all that and the fact that I don't have to charge for 6-8 days. Not much, but that's regular usage for me. Also, on my trip to California, I watched 3 movies and listened to music moderately. Movies will demolish the battery, as it lasts about 5 hours with just straight movies. Action movies and stuff with fast moving scenes will wear it down the most. Again, these are processor intensive. To give you an idea of how long I used it on the trip, it was 8 hours going up and 8 hours back home. The nano was about dead when I pulled in the driveway. Keep in mind that I didn't listen to it all the time in the car. Hope this helps!

Sorry about the wall, I'm trying to be as descriptive as possible.

Sorry, this isn't the right place. If you head on over to the "General Hardware Discussion" board, then you will be in the right place. :)
