i live in canada and the zune arrived not long ago. ive been wanting an ipod for a while but i checked the zune out and i thought it was pretty neat. Which one should i get? All the music in my computer is in the ipod format and i was wondering if the zune is compatable with that type or would i have to convert it into something else?

I think you would have to convert it, don't qoute me on that though cause I'm not sure. I like the Zune better as far as the mp3 player itself, but the marketplace store for it is pathetic.

one word: ipod

dude theres a reason why its the number one mp3 player on the market.

itunes, bigger screen, smaller from factor... get the ipod nano...

dont get me wrong, the zune is awesome, but the ipod, although it may have fewer feature, is of better quality...

If the zune can use the ipod format, i think i would get the zune. Not that the ipod is worse but because so many people have them that it would just feel like half the experience of first getting one. but if i have to convert the format, ipod for me.

Zunes are much better. They do everything the iPod does and more.

Did you buy your music off iTunes or did you just import all your music there?

bigger screen,

dark-ottsel

The Zune has a much bigger screen than the iPod, nearly twice as big.

when it comes down to audio quality, the zune wins hands down, but i think the zune omits some features that the ipod has, like for instance it doesnt have an EQ, or a clock, or some other fancy stuff. just look into the features more to see what you like, i personally own the 80gb zune, and love it, never given me a single problem, and unlike the ipod you can move music and other data freely from the zune to the computer.

what type of file are they? if they like AAC or something, if its anything that only ipods can play then you would have to convert it, but if they are just regular mp3s or any type of universal media file then you would not have to convert i.

i dunno about drag and drop, i use the software that the zune uses, but you might be able to drag and drop. as long as its mp3, then you wont have to do any converting.

It's pretty easy. You just tell the program where to locate all of your songs, videos, etc. It does the rest. Another really interesting aspect of the Zune is the Social, it tracks all of the music that you've played and shares it with others. I don't have a Zune yet, but I use the software. I'll probably be getting a Zune in the next couple of weeks, though.

Depends. If you have a Mac, get an iPod definitely. But the Zune is good for PC users for the ZunePass thing.

Compared to a nano, get the Zune. More stuff for $15? Sign me up!

Get an iPod... best mp3 players on the market, hands down.

Also, try getting your opinions in a different forum because these are filled with Apple (and any product related to them) haters.

Just convert your files to MP3 using iTunes, it's real easy. Then buy the superior Zune.

Please tell me how, because everything I've looked at tells me the Zune is better in every way.

Okay, I'm not sure about this but someone who has a Zune may be able to shed a little light on the subject. What I do with my computer is I allow iTunes to share my music library. SO when I open Windows Media Player it can access my entier library. I do not like to buy music from iTunes I import my own CDs and borrow my friends CDs to increase my music library.

I was told by one of my teenage friends that the reason Zune is so great is because you share music with your friends when they hook up to your computer. With iTunes only ONE device works per computer. That keeps people from sharing their entire library when an Ipod is hooked up to a different computer. THAT's the BIG difference.

The Zune is a niche product wheras the iPod is mainstream and is probably the easiest thing to navigate. I think even a blind person would find it easy to navigate.

I think the Zune's touch pad is much easier to use than the iPod wheel.

I use my mp3 players with an external amp and the Zune doesn't have a Line-Out which is an absolute deal-killer. If not for that, I would have bought a Zune 8.

OP, can you be more specific than iPod format? Are they AAC files (which will work) or are they DRM protected files you bought from itunes (which won't work)?

Get a zune there overall better quality and I like mine better than ipod. I hate how some people can't adapt and just buy ipods because there mainstream. Ive even heard people go as far as to say that its the best mp3 player
