uh, i figured this might be the best place to put this question even though it relates to an mp3 player and not a game console.

Anyway, my iPod died today. It just won't turn on atall. Also when I plug it into the computer (through the USB port like to charge and load songs onto it) it still wont turn on. My question is what the problem with the iPod might be. If the batteries are totally dead (the type of battery it uses eventually fails), when I plug the iPod into the computer is it running off of computer power or its own batteries? Since this will help me narrow down the problem. Thanks.

Apple's customer service website is very very useful. I used it when my iPod had problems. You should give that a try!

Batteries for those things are $70 a pop, if that's the problem Also, make sure the iPod isn't locked. That's that sliding switch on top of the iPod. Mkae sure it's not on the red position. I say this because it's happened to me on occasion

Try doing a reset by holding down select and menu for several seconds. I have had the same thing happen and that fixed it instantly.
