Ipod to PS3 connectivity issues.

I plugged my 30G Ipod into one of the PS3 USB ports, went to music and saw nothing. Then I did the select all option and got the music, but it was just scattered around and broken into groups. Some songs had listings like HQPG with no song title, artist or anything. I am not understanding what the issue is. Is it the PS3? Is it the Ipod? Is is the music format? I was expecting plug and play functionality, not my current situation. Just curious and is thereanythingI need to do. Thanks in advance. late.

Just want to play the music from my Ipod on my PS3. But I want to be able to see all all the song titles and have it in some order not scattered into 50 different folders. late.
