Hi all,

I got my eye on a Viewsonic monitor (VX2253mh-LED), just wanna make sure it won't be too big as I'll be using it on a regular computer desk. Also, if I lower the resolution, will it spoil the image quality a lot? I'm asking this coz I don't think my E5200 and HD 4670 will be able to handle most new games in 1080p.

It will look like crap at anything but its native resolution.

I use a 24" monitor for my computer. Definitely not too big, I could easily get a much bigger one.

The idea is to get a 22'' for the computer and 28'' + tv tuner for the other room. One at a time, tho.

I will agree, my 24" already feels tiny. This is why i want a 40" Sony Bravia, and from what i've seen the picture quality is amazing.

Why don't you try picking up a 1366x768 monitor if you don't plan on upgrading graphics card soon? a 1080p monitor will not only look bad being fed a lower res, you will also get some nasty lag when gaming.

Well if it turns out too bad I'll get a new gfx card 8). I already got a 18.5'' monitor with 1440x900 resolution and there's no way I go lower. And I'm counting on better pixel per inch ratio, too.

Cool as long as you don't mind possibly having to upgrade then 1080p is a great resolution :) I never had any real issues with my E5200 at that res either (with a slight OC).

Shouldn't be too big at all. Mine is a 23" wide and still fits on my desk with room to spare. You shouldn't have any problems. (:

That was my plan aswell. Get a 120hz for gaming and another monitor with a tv tuner next to it. Haven't got the 120hz one yet, so I just switch between tv and pc on the single tv tuner monitor.

I think the treshold for when a screen is too big, is around when it reaches 30"

I just got a 27 inch, its not too big for my desk, butmuch bigger and it would be hard tosuck in the entire screen when you watch. I think around 30 will be around where it becomes too hard. a 21.5" ispretty good size ^^

Eh, thought I got it all figured out, now I can't help looking at 24'' monitors. One more (stupid) question: do LED monitors actually make better looking picture or are they just more "eco-friendly"?

Led displays usually offer better colors, they are warmer on a led backlight then the older LCDs. They also tend to be able to have a higher refresh rate (altho that may not be LED specific, but rather the general technology that has progressed).

It is not some wonder maker, and it sure aint OLED or Plasma, but the image I get from my bLED backlight, is far better then my old LCD.

With my led its richer in color vs my lcd. Plus it so much thinner and cooler.

Mine is 24"(23.6)ViewSonic LED, I think it's about right.. but I lowered resulution to 720P tho bcuz I just don't really like how tiny text are on 1080P pictures are much clearer than 720P so what I don't care.

21.5 is a little too small for 1080p actually. Grab a 23-24incher for that res.

Depends on the size of your desk. I use a 24" monitor and wouldn't mind having a larger monitor. I'd say about 26" or 27" would be perfect for me. Anything lower than its max resolution will probably look like crap, so that's why I prefer never to do that.

I can get a 24'' benq for ~150€, only 10€ over that 21.5'' Viewsonic. But it's 5ms against 2ms and non LED vs LED.

LED or LCD doesnt make a difference, its the actual panel that makes a difference.

No PC LED monitors are actually worse than CCFL LCD's.

The LED tech used in monitors is edge lit which makes backlight bleed worse than with CCFL monitor of the same quality. And it doesnt really help with the blacks at all.

The reason why most will tell you that "LED is teh best and pwns my CCFL LCD" is because they upgraded to a 2011 LED LCD from an older cheap CCFL LCD, it's just a general boost in technology that happens at lower price points.

Some of the best LCD monitors are actually CCFL backlit.
