I was thinking of buying a PS3 for exclusive games. The console is $1000.00 and each game costs around $130.00. Is it worth the price?

Two questions. How long does it take you to make that much money, and how interested are you in those games?

Well man, thats entirely your call then. If you want it that bad then go for it. But if you arent 100% sure thats what you want, I say pass.

1000?? Is it made out of gold?SinfulPotato
Im sure hes not in America. I know game consoles are ridiculously expensive in, say, Australia and South Africa.

Yeah, South AmericaI've also been toying around with the idea of buying a PS3 latelely, purely for the exclusives, and of course the other features the ps3 has to offer such as blu ray and the BBC iplayer etc.
I think i have ruled out the idea of getting a brand new one because they are so expensive and i dont have that much money to flash around, so i was thinking of buying a used one off ebay...
Still.... is it worth it? The games are hugely overpriced in comparison to PC games, but then having a console (imo) adds a more social aspect to gaming.
How much games are you interested in? I thought about it too, but for just a couple of games like grand turismo and some FF titles it's not realy worth it. Besides you have a PC and there are always games that you didn't play or didn't play to it's fullest potential. So for the price of a PS3 with a couple of games you can buy 12+ PC titles thats keeps you busy for another year or 2.
Games i recommend if you don't already own 'm.
Civilization 4, tedious at first but once you get the hang of it it can offer 100's of hours of gameplay maybe even 1000's.
Warhammer online, may look like WoW but isn't anything like it. You can fight eppic PvP battles all day long without having to search for parties. You can get to lvl 40 trough PvP and get good gear allong the way probably faster then questing. This way you don't have the annoying kill 10 rats quests grinds.
Soon starcraft 2? ... i surely hope so :D.
Ever tried a sports manager? They go realy deep and offer tons of gameplay hours but they can be hard at times.
Actually, because of taxes, it will have a higher price than buying hereBuy from US and ship internationally? That might be cheaper.

Because if i put this on the PS3 forum i'll only get "Yes, it's worth it"I'm wondering why this is in the PC Games forum...

i say dont short yourself, if you really want it then get it
i mean what if we only live once.. (and it is all what if) wouldnt you rather do what you want (what if the world does end on the solstice of 2012, might as well spend the last few years having fun with your games)... i mean its a gaming system, your not hurting anyone, so yeah i say go for it.. but only if you really want to.

dude if the console costs that much in your country man i wouldnt buy it for 1000 dollars id put more money into a PC if you have one or build a new pc.
My thoughts have been gravitating towards a PS3 as well a lot lately. Since they went down to $300, I've seriously considered it just for the Blu-ray option at least. blu-ray players will prolly run ya around $200 anyway, so why not go with a bit more to get a gaming system.
If the prices are comparable where you live, then I would go with it.
I brought a PS3 precisely for exclusives but really, 1000 bucks is a lot of money. What country are you from anyway?spiderman120988Brazil
Brazil If it was in the US I would wholeheartedly recommend a PS3 combined with a gaming PC but in Brazil, it just seems like a lot. However, if you are keen about getting it, think about the cost of the games and Blu-Rays and see if you still want to get it.[QUOTE="spiderman120988"]I brought a PS3 precisely for exclusives but really, 1000 bucks is a lot of money. If there are games you want to play on that console then go for it, and you can always wait for games to come down in price before purchasing. There are a load of good games coming out this year as well, and there is the psn store to download a load of free demos etc to play as well.dragonage22Games almost never have price drops in here... PS2 games still costs $100 each
Well, my PC is not bad, but it's not great either. Perphaps a system update would make me forget...no man dont do it. i really wanted a PS3, and when i asked around, it turned out to cost 700$. this can take me forever to make. then i spent a 500$ on PC upgrade and its Amazing, never looked back, never.
i still feel like getting a PS3, but not as bad as before upgrading.GazaAli
