I have been looking at this game and wondering if it's worth the $30. Anyone play? Is there much endgame?

there is more endgame now with patch 2.0..... but seriously... the grind is boring and retarded. i couldnt make it past 40 and i played lineage2 for years. the grinding just isnt fun like it was in lineage...
For some reason a couple of my friends really dig this game. In all honesty it's a pretty huge grind from about level 20 to level 55. There is a decent amount of endgame content with the new patch, and PvP is good fun, but you're better off with WoW or EverQuest in my opinion if you want an excellent MMO.
If you like PvP and think you can stand grinding I would recommend trying it... at least I felt the games best aspect was PvP (besides visuals of course).
It's been a good while since I was subscribed but I'm considering trying it again now when they have adjusted the levelling a bit. At least I read on aionsource that there is less grind now.
I enjoyed it while I played for the most part. I didn't mind the grind; it never seemed boring or over the top for me. The PvP was pretty good, as long as you have a good few group leaders to direct everyone it can be pretty intense when a mass of Elyos and Asmos collide in the Abyss. The one thing I really disliked (and this was before the more recent server merges, I stopped playing in June - the server merges happened in July I believe) was trying to find a group of people to do some of the mid ranged instances. Some of these instances can provide you with really nice weapons or armor that you can use from level 30ish up to level 45 or so without having to worry about finding, buying or crafting something better. These instances, though, require a lot of work; you have to run them dozens of times to acquire enough items for the missions given (basically, repeatable missions). It just grew to hard to find groups. It seemed like everyone and their cousins had all these nifty weapons/armor from the instances and I'm stuck with blue items I've found or created....I just feel like I'm always a step behind and hindered more in PvP. I also grew impatient to see what new changes they were going to roll out with the 2.0 update - I heard it was supposed to help with grinding (which didn't bother me to begin with) and the server merges would help put more people in one area to help with issues (like not being able to find a group to run instances with) and to help improve with PvP battles with a larger community on both sides. I think about going back to check the game out again, but lack of money (from not having an income over the past 3 months) and the fact that my new job kind of removes me from peak playing times on the server my account is on......keeps me from coming back.
I remember when they promised "no grinding" in beta :D.
This game should have a small sign saying "Its a big grind". After level 20 the game is only about grinding grinding grinding while you try to stay alive from all the high levels that fly past you.
LOL, that's funny. I am asian and I don't even know how an MMORPG would feel asian. Anyway, I tried Aion and it played like WOW with pretty graphic. I only got to lvl 30 though.

nope , horrible mmo , its like call of duty of mmorpgs highly advertised , hyped but the game gets old after 4 hours of gameplay and is horrible in general ...
I hated it, I quit EvE after many years and thought well I can give Aion a chance. I found it horrible, but I did play the game at launch so the starting areas and such were horrendously busy and nobody was really high level. I just found the grind too much for me and really boring! I think if you like boring PvE grinding then sure try it, but if you don't then avoid it.
hmmm....maybe I'll wait for a free try if they do one.

You never know if they'll release a free trial or not. My suggestion is to keep an eye on the game on Steam, wait for a sale to come around on the game. I think the last sale they had on it was 50% off so it was around $15 or so. Which isn't too bad if you're looking to try the game out for a month and see how it feels....instead of dropping $30-40 for a copy and finding out you don't care much for it.
