It's a great game, still the most realistic combat game on the market. If you can get past all the tedious training missions, it will reward you in spades. A big engine update is going to be coming this year as well, and with it, a bunch of new features.

its great for a free game, but you gotta do a lot of training crap before you can play online. and its very slow. expect to die and wait about 5-8 minutes before you can play again. levels are big, and a lot of camping. and 5 minutes is a long time when you sit there stairing off. its hard, but fun, like i said good for a free game, but too slow

thats exactly why i like it. But you dont wait 5 minutes, if your in a big server with like 20 people, then yeah, but not if your in a good size 10-12 man server. Like i said thats why i like it, you dont run around like an idiot like you do in counter strike, and since you go as fast as a regular person goes, not 50 mph like you do in CS, its a lot more focused on intelligence and tactics than just skills with a gun.

People raise their eyebrows when they hear that it's a free game, or say that it's remarkable for a free game, but it was published on a Department of Defense budget, so it's not like they were scavenging for resources - and they can certainly afford to publish it for free (you can either download it or pick up the CD at a recruiting station).

I liked the game itself, I was an awesome medic, but I hated the community. People kept pouring in from CounterStrike and then complaining about how they couldn't do this or that like they could in CS, ignoring the fact that it was supposed to be a more realistic simulation of combat. That also made the teamwork element which was supposed to play a huge part in gameplay bottom out, so then people would complain about how easy it was to die when they tried to go solo with grenades against a machinegunner.

So if you want good gameplay, I recommend it, and I'll leave it at that.

totally, I agree with you. Thats why the only time i play this game is when a buddy's on, and then you guys work together and then it gets super fun. The other problem with the community is that they only play 4 old maps that have been in the game for almost 4 years, but all the new maps, that are very good and complex, no one plays. Its a real shame.

It is in fact the best free game I have ever played, and ranks up with my favorite FPSs. I finished all my training..... took forever...

but the newest version doesnt work on my comp  :(

*sigh*  as games are made, the devs seem to think that we can all afford to be constantly upgrading  :(

I enjoy it, it's pretty slow paced though and it can be a royal pain waiting 5 minutes for the next round to start once you die. If you like the slower paced shooters like Rainbow 6, Ghost Recon and such you should love it, if you don't and you strictly like the more Qauke/Unreal shooters you won't like this.
