Exactly
What happens in WoW is essentially nothing but a continuous series of side stories. Yes, you might battle against significant figures in WoW lore (Arthas, for example, and many more), but ultimately those battles can end any way Blizzard wants to interpret them.
For 99.9% of the game, however, it has no impact on the Warcraft 3 universe and, if it comes, the Warcraft 4 universe.
I don't get that....wasn't WoW a continuation of the WC3 story? What happened with Arthas, the Naga etc etc?it is, and it isnt.
my personal feeling is that, in the RTS series, you play this grande general overseeing the entire war.
in WoW, you are essentially a peon participating in these battles, no matter how epic your gear is. No matter how powerful you are, you are fighting things battle by battle. You are not determining the course of action in the grand scheme of things so much as you are determining the battle.
So while a lot of what you do in WoW extends beyond what occurred in Warcraft 3 and TFT in terms of the lore, ultimately it will all come together in Warcraft 4 because, again, you are simply a peon in battles, and not the general commander of the war.
Warcraft 4 will be able to reference things in WoW because that is how they intended things to happen. Blizzard, for better or worse, did not make their MMO dynamic in terms of winning or losing...they intended the player to win and continue the storyline.
