The graphics look gorgeous, the gameplay seems promising, Gamespot's preview states that its one of this year's most promising RPGs and yet...people are ignoring this title? Am i honestly one of the very few people thats looking forward to this game? or even acknowledges it's existance?

I am keeping an eye on it, but most people is only interested on Crysis or Bioshock, so it's not big surprise you don't see this game mentioned often. The depth of the choices looks promising, but let's see what they are able to accomplish.

I'm really looking forward to this game! Hellgate: London and The Witcher are a couple of my most anticipated games over the next couple of months. The Witcher looks really amazing, the trailer is fantastic, and I hope its as good as it sounds and looks.

dialogue style, voice acting, combat style and class structure are both a major concern for me - i know nothing about either!

but the central elements of the game i find very appealing, i definitely want to buy it - but i want a demo first so i can check out the other stuff

there's nothing quite like some american voiced character saying, Hey, i'm gonna go check out that camp over there to ruin the atmosphere, and similarly, a poor combat or class development structure can ruin a roleplaying game

i'm not anti american or anything, but most american voices just do not belong in fantasy, and it's a real mood killer for me

i definitely wanna buy it, i love the choice/consequence concepts in the game, but i need more information about the game, andhopefully a demo

Haha mfsa, I'm not even an American and I find your comment of "American" voices not belonging in fantasy to be a little ridiculous.

It's "fantasy". Not British history.(This is presuming you enjoy the cliched British accent in your RPG's).

On-topic, check out the latest trailer of Thw Witcher on Gametrailers. This game looks incredible. I can't wait, Mass Effect and this game this fall, oh yeah!

I am looking forward to it. I just hope it turns out good. We get a lot of rpgs with promise and in the end they don't turn out to good. Hopefully that won't be the case with this game because it does look fantastic.

TheCrazed420

quite a presumption !

i like voices and dialogue that feel appropriatein the setting, good voices - whether they are american or british or non-distinct, i don't care, buttypical american accents and dialogue styles spoil atmosphere in a fantasy game for me

just as an example, none of the voices in the lord of the rings films were distinctly placable as american, english or anywhere inbetween, and it worked for me, very well

while gothic 3, as a contrary example, just straight up pissed me off - i'm not american so i can't particularly place the accents, but none of the voices felt appropriate to me at all - not because they were american (that they were american is incidental), but because they were just wrong

i don't want british voices, i want good voices that feel appropriate - if they're american, fine, justwell picked, appropriateamerican accents

K, I understand you now. I'm just kind of tired of the British voice actors in my RPGs, so I had assumed thats what your cup of tea was :D. I guess my personal preference is also in the non-distinct. I don't want to say "Oh , thats a French accent", I like it when its unknown or unclear, that way it makes the world more alien.

TheCrazed420

yeah, i guess i was a little biased and suggestivein my first post, buti suppose that's because it's usually the distinctly american accents that are most prevalent in games, so they are a natural target for my burning rage

i just hope the witcher has some good voicework and well written dialogue (hopefully by a talented translation/writing team), as i gather the team is non-english-speaking... and that really hurt s.t.a.l.k.e.r for me - terrible dialogue and broken english, i would've prefered native ukranian (i think it was?) voice work, especially since everything was subtitled/dialogye boxed anyway, though the written dialogue could've used a professional translation team too, which it certainly did not get

Original voices sound good ....sounds like what you dislike is dubbed over english. Watch any good anime with subs vs. dubs and its two diffrent movies.

On the other hand I think alot are waiting for Witcher but thatas all we can do. From the first time I checked out this title I have been intrigued.

I couldnt post screenshots from the Witcher website so Gamespot was the way to go. I do agree though that those screenshots does not do the game justice.

No offense at all intended, but I couldn't care less about the screenshots anyway. I think its the complicated storylines and involved moral choices that should make this one interesting. The idea of actually designing an RPG for grown-ups (Not "adults" as that might imply something altogether different) is a novel one that I really hope pans out for them. The fact that the trailers also happen to look fantastic is purely immaterial. ;) I'll wait for the reviews and maybe a demo, but I'm watching this one closely.
