Steam is selling it for $39.99 and I'm considering it. I found the first far too repetitive but I've been told this one is better.

I wonder this as well. I was waiting on a price drop, no excuse now. I have been told it has some repetitiveness to it, but not like the first.millerlight89It was one of the best game last year so as long as you're willing to deal with the drm I would say go for it.
hmmm 40 bucks, its likely not to be that low for a looooong time.
argh, damn you Steam...I've only got like 170 bucks in my checking account, *BUT* I get paid in four days....hmmmmmmmm
Sure, I only wish I could have skipped the DLC levels included in the PC version. The DLC is HORRIBLE! It really ruined my the ending part of the game for me which was amazing.

quick question:
40 bucks for AC2, or 49.99 for Alpha Protocol?
Suffca
If you're in North America. $40 for AP.
You have to pay shipping so it's closer to $44 or 45. If you're near a Fry's they have it on sale right now for $40 as well, could save yourself the shipping charge. Gogamer has some pretty sweet deals atm, Bioshock 2 for $30, AvP for $30, Arma 2 for $30, BC2 for $32.
Assassins Creed 2 was a very good game, and from reviewers it seems that AP was a bit of a let down. So the safer choice would be AC2.quick question:

In the first few hours you'll find yourself randomly pressing buttons on your keyboard. After that, you'll want to throw the CD out of the window.NightegYou don't play games like these without a controller.

This is not DMC where a controller is fundamental, you do play games like these without a controller and any person that played AC and considered it decent would expect AC 2 to behave the same since it's identical yet...it wasn't the case.

The game plays fine with m&kb imo, you just have to tweak the controls a bit.
I'm not fond of the having to be online to play part.... Think I'd rather get the console version. That is, if I ever buy a PS3 or Xbox....to begin with. Until then, I'll wait until the PC version is under 15 bucks.

yeah then you just pay the extra tax. (which some states would be about the same as shipping, ahh but the money spent in gas going to the store, but then again conveniencecause you don't have to wait a few days for it to come to you.)
thing about the console version, the pc version atleast has vsync. not sure about 360, but ac2 on ps3 was painful for me.i got the console version for $10 less, but idk if you have access to a console

When I hooked my wireless 360 controller to the game it didn't recognize the triggers of the controller (Z-axes or whatever).

So, PS3/360 have Tearing problems?Threesixtycithe ps3 version has some of the worst tearing Ive ever seen, and a pretty poor framerate at times. Also textures fade in and out and really take you out of the game. This is a prime example of why I wont game on console, they have a closed platform yet they put out something that doesnt even perform correctly! And what can you do to fix it? Nothing!

I second this, i rent it on my ps3 and the tearing was everywhere. Its a great game though, so its a pick your poison scenario. Xbox 360 - system might just die or scratch the disc or who knows (cant comment on the performance, but Ive read the pop in and framerate isnt good, also has screen tearing), ps3 - bad performance and screen tearing, pc - awful drm.
