As i hear from people, the sub-vendor does not matter alot in terms of quality. The difference is with support and warranty.

Powercolor is fine. Just make sure you get the 1gb version.

Does anyone know if they've figured out a way to fix the gray screen / flickering problems with that card?

I don't get those anymore. I guess they fixed it with catalyst 10.2 or 10.3.

My x1950xt 512mb was a PowerColor, no problems.
