I bought BFBC2 for the PS3 back when the game first release but in light of the steam sale where it is only $7 i might just pick it up for the PC but i have a few questions to ask about it.

1. What are the, if any, huge improvements between the PC and the PS3 version?

2. Roughly how many people still play?

thanks

1. dedicated servers. more teamwork. better graphics (depending on your system first of all, then your monitor.). all the map packs are free (SPECACT is effing 5 dollars though). and then there's an actual community.

edit: not really huge improvements in anything with those except dedicated servers and the free VIP map packs.

2. seems like more people play on pc than ps3. so you're set there.

1. I have no PS3 so will not comment. 2. It has a lot of players! I play BFBC2 everyday. I think BFBC2 is much better then any COD game. With the new Vietnam expansion there are a lot of players. BTW, It is on sale on steam for $6.79 You would have to be insane not to buy it at that price.

Don't forget 32 players instead of 24 as well. And more options too.

Yes. Server browser, more players per match (32 vs 24), mouse/keyboard controls, and nicer graphics. :)

PC has better graphics and can support more players along with a bigger community. I remember reading that PS3 sales came in at around 500,000 while PC sales came in at around 1 million after the first month of release. If your PC can run it, why not get it for PC?

You are a VIP if you simply buy the game. There is no VIP code system on PC. It wouldn't make sense at all.

community? yeah. look up all the communities on steam.

Are you saying Steam is the only place to actually have clans and groups? You are very ignorant if so.

and these dedicated servers you speak of, they are owned and controlled by people in the community?

No, but you simply said there are no dedicated servers on the console versions. I could care less if a dedicated server is ran by the community. It doesn't make my experience any better considering there are no mods for this game.

I've had the PS3 version since it came out, played the beta before that.

I just bought the PC version this weekend to play Vietnam on it.

I loved the PS3 version, but I wish I got the PC version much sooner, The framerate is a whole lot better, depending on your PC you can smooth out the jaggies a ton, and the interface is much, much more friendly. Getting in and out of squads and configuring your loadout is a snap. And there's still a ton of people playing. Personally, I can't find a reason to play my PS3 version anymore.

To me the PS3 version was so jaggy I could not stand it, had to switch to the PC one, which is so crisp.

I own all console and a high end PC, PC is my choice of platform at least for this game. but judging from the ps3 demo, difference are

1. better control(sniper aiming is serious business in PC version online)

2. graphic, I can't stand jaggy edge in anygame, there's no big technical difference between 2 versions, but once you play at QSAAx32 on PC, it makes a much better experience(for example you can spot distanced enemies more easily)

3. difference match making system, hard to say which is better than the other since you never fail to find a match on console, but PC use dedicated service, you choose where, who and what you want to play with and you can have yoru favorite server saved and go back into it next time whenever you want

nt.

Yea, it actually does. Admins moderating servers, I have participated in several server contests for money and games. There are many great things about having the community run the servers. It may not be great for you, but that is YOUR loss.

Graphics, controls, amount of players, and more...of course its better :P. I have a PS3 and played it on that, but who in their right mind would buy an FPS on PS3 over PC?

I dont have a PS3, but on the PC you get better graphics and performance (then again, that depends on your system specs). 32 players instead of 24, better dedicated servers( i heard the EA servers are horrendous), skills gap ( no auto-aim). For $7 you really cant go wrong with the PC version.

You don't actually have to get involved in the community to get a benefit from the community. Now this isn't the same game, but in Day of Defeat Source I found a server where everyone was easy going and relaxed. They all joked around and nobody ever started shouting over the mic or yelling profanities. In other servers you can get people bashing others, yelling profanities and overall just being rude and annoying. Now I didn't have to do anything to get the benefit of the community besides just joining a different server. I have yet to actually talk in that server; all I do is join and kill guys, but the experience is just so much better. I also play a ton of games that way (only on consoles), but that usually ends with me muting every single person that speaks.

Now this doesn't seem to be a factor for you, but I did want to make it clear that you don't really need to actively participate in the community to gain its benefits.

I played the beta on the PS3 and I've got the game on PC. The PC version as you might guess looks a lot better texture wise and is cleaner, crisper and sharper. You get more players per match on PC too and the maps they added are free which I think you need to pay for on any of the consoles. They've done well with BC2 though in terms of making it a PC game. It feels like a PC game with proper mouse control and the interface is built for the PC. You can even alt+enter to instantly switchto and from windowed mode which to me really shows they made a worthy effort with the PC version.

I should add in a nutshell as far as I know the PC version has everything the PS3 version has both gameplay wise (maps, skins, models, weapons etc) and interface wise plus a good amount more.

sn4k3_64
Yes it does because it unlocks all the last weapons for that class. If you have already unlocked all the weapons then it just adds skins to the weapon and your character. If you don't have everything unlocked then you will get the M16A2 assualt rifle, UMP-45 sub machine gun, MG3 and M95 sniper. I only had the M16A2 unlocked out of those guns so I benefited by getting three new weapons. When you use the specact class with the new weapon skin you will also get extra medals which will make you rank up faster.

I didnt play it on PS3, but I did on Xbox and I have to say that the game is a completely different experience on PC. In every xbox game I played nearly everyone in the server was either recon or an engineer (And there were far less engineers than recons). PC you get a very nice balance of the classes, but sometimes you do get ye olde recon spam but their team nearly always loses anyway.
