i would have voted for episode 2 or portal or cod4 but bioshock is a great game, deserving of praise and accolades.

Qft, for the console players, the game is basicly the closer they will ever get to a pc-only game. For pc gamer though, the gameis a version ofSystem Shock2 for stupid.

If u wanna play a first person shooter where your best weapon is a wrench then bioshock is for you! lol but seriously it was a great game, i wouldn't say it was overhyped it deserved all of the accolades. But for the price you could pick up the orange box, 4 great games > 1 great game fo sho. Hope this helped!

"The game is a version of System Shock 2 for stupid." And I helped with spaces. Anyway, i've been playing pc and console games for about 7ish years, and this is an absurdly great game. I can't believe it didn't win GOTY, and anyone who thinks it was overhyped probably didn't play it, play all the way through it, or are in the extreme minority. The game is fantastic, not just because of plasmids, the shooting aspects are fun, the story is great, and the atmosphere is the best of any game to come out in a while. That's my opinion anyway.

The only reason I kept playing past the first level was because Andrew Ryan is a badass. Bioshock is as overhyped as a game can get.

The hype leading up to it was well-deserved. After all, it claims to be the spiritual successor to one of the best games ever made. The end product, however, is definitely disappointing. A great game still, but a tad bit overrated by many. I thought Gamespot's 9.0 score was quite fair.

I understand now why people say its overrated. Bioshock was supposed to surpass its predecessors but instead took a huge step back. Thats the main reason. I actually really enjoyed the game, even though it dragged a little bit at the end, near the apollo square area. I played bioshock BEFORE system shock 2, so i think i got the best experience possible out of those 2 games. Bioshock was a nice introduction to this type of gameplay and SS2 made it more complex. But this isnt normal, since bioshock came out 8 years after SS2.

Yup, that was definitely my problem. I played and loved System Shock 2 before I moved to Bioshock. Bioshock showed some flashes of its heritage, but is overall a pale shadow of SS2.

I thought it was way overhyped. It was a good game but not the greatest.. Better games... Crysis, Orangebox, The Witcher

Best thing I got out of the game was running from a Big Daddy for hours on this stair case.

Is BS overhyped? I have yet to find a more overhyped game I regret having wasted two hours of my life with this game. I have yet to see a game with worse weapons, with worse enemies, with a lower number of enemy types and with a worse level design. Everything this game has, has been done better in almost all FPS games (with the exception of it's atmosphere, which is BS's only great part) The most fun I had with this game, was when I pressed the uninstall button. It's not even worth the HD space

absolutely not... bioshock has new weapons, better settings, and better gameplay than anything else available and here's why. have you seen plasmids before? these are new types of weapons you can use in bioshock. have you seen a whole city under water? and new water effects? like rapture in bioshock? no... this is all new stuff that bioshock brings to the table. and not to mention that creepy guy on the radio that sounds like he is from 1952. bioshock has so much going for it i don't know how to explain it. the game is unreal. you should really try it.

From the previous posters here, it's clear that the mission of this forum is to gather BioShock haters.

Well - i have to admit that iactually thought that BS was hyped before i played it (havendt played the system shock games)- i even posted that statement on some gamespot preview somewhere!!

Then i played it.... oh my!!!!

i have never played a game with so much atmosphere and storyline as BS. It's up there with halflife 2 and max payne - and every game must unfurtunately contain some degree of repetition, which BS does towards the end.
The tactical freedom is enormous, wonderful and fun.
The plot-twist 2/3 through is awesome!! (though the concept of a takeawayyourweaponsandstartover is seen several times before)
The graphics are awesome!!!
Sound: awesome!

I am a converted disbeliever.

I really liked it, not only was the atmosphere good, but the game it's self was good as well. It's money well spent.

Bioshock is great. I personaly found that something was missing, I can't put my finger on it but maybe its a bit shallow, I dunno. And the game hits a high point where the game goes down hill more drasticaly than I've ever seen before, but I'm talking within 30 minutes of the end not like half way through the game.

BioShock is a bad copy of System Shock 2, except it lacks just about all the things that made SS2 great. Calling BioShock a masterpiece is like someone photocopying the Mona Lisa, drawing some bling on her, giving her an eye patch and calling it a masterpiece.

It is very, very overhyped. It's not that it's a bad game, it's not. It's just been done before. And done much, much better. I always smiled at old people who used to say Back in my day things were better...

But now I understand. Things really were better.

This game is very bad but I guess that depends on the player.
