Of course. There's always people playing that game, so it will be no trouble finding a match. I can't say that it is easy to get into, because there are alot of skilled players at the moment. But soon enough of you'll get used to it. And you don't need punkbuster. :)

Just throwing in my two cents ^^

CS:S is very much still a game to buy, altho the first week or so might be a bit rough. It is a very calculated game, with little in the area of "luck". It is likely one of the better tuned fps games out there (apart from semi snipers, and awp on low player maps.

It is one of my alltime favorite shooters :)

BTW: You have your BF2 from steam? if so try disabeling the ingame overlay, it was messing with PB, so it would kick me untill I disabeled the overlay.

You may be shocked by the level of twitch required if you're coming from BF2, but yes it's a very good game and still has a lot of players.

Its good to see this game is still around. Man, i remember playing this in the 90s when I was a teenager (back when the original CS was still in beta). Was pretty good back then but I'm sure I would get severely spanked if I went back to this game now. :P As others said, its definetely a skill based game than takes a fair amount of dedication to get good at.

Yes its definitely worth it! The game never seems to get boring for me, even though i only play a couple of maps, and counter strike is the only shooter that always draws me back in even if i havent played it for a very long time. It does require some skill, but i think compared to cs 1.6 its not as hardcore (i.e. its more noob friendly, easier to get kills and use the weapons). Although, you will probably find that a gun like the ak47 will take a lot of practice to master, but its worth it XD. So definitely buy it, i've put nearly 200 hours into it :O

Still many people play this awesome most famous multiplayer FPS, worth buying and it's only 20$, oh and Steam/Valve games uses VAC - their own Internet gaming protection

lol yeah.. I'm with you. Since when i first got steam almost 2 years ago, I think I've only played the dust maps, and office.. lol. Those maps are just awesome imo.. and yeah.. the ak47 is really really hard to use when you first start using it.. or at least it was for me.

I dont think it'll be much fun anymore, unless you are really skilled at it.

Which im not, hence not playing it.

But it is really fun if you find a map with equally skilled opponents! ^^

Pretty much this. I could never get good at it, but I had a good time because the server I always played on had a good community, so I would just go on and mess around and listen to them ramble (I didn't have a mic at the time.)

The game doesn't have fantastic graphics but it is a load of fun to play. I like to play it for a few minutes here and there, especially surf_ and zm_ game types.

Lool, same here i only play dust_2, cs_italy and cs_office, but atm all im playing is italy lol..they have sum of the best maps imo, just so fun to play haha. I would have to disagree with some people, i dont think you need THAT much skill to play it, trust me play 1.6 and then you'll see what i mean lol ^^ :)

Also guys, if your struggling, try using the m4a1 silenced, i find that its a lot more easier to spray and get kills with it silenced..

Counter Strike is the most reliable shooter

you can count on that game to just survive as other games die off

Yeah i agree, its going to take a very long time for the game to die down, even now there are 20,000+ servers online
