I haven't followed this game at all after buying and only playing half of the second one. Such a disappointment from the first game. Also do the graphics even finally surpass Crysis 1 or is it still low texture corner cutting nonsense?

It easily surpasses Crysis 1. The new Graphics King, I dare say. Gameplay is rock-solid. Mind you, I didn't like Crysis 2 at all graphics and gameplay, but Crysis 3 is awesome.
Only downside is the difficulty. Â The game is way too easy on Veteran. Â

I think Crysis beats it from a game play perspective.Â
So the graphics are better? is it fake scale and backdrops though with cell streaming or what? And theres just no way the gameplay could be better than C1. I know I sound stupid without playing it but theres just no way after Crysis 2 that they went back to vast levels and freedom. I might have to pick it up when its cheap then. I would wait for a sale. It's extremely short(from all the reviews I've read), and while the multiplayer is decent I don't think it's worth 60 bucks.
Graphically, nothing touches it. The environments are still limited, but there are several areas in the game where it feels as open as the first Crysis. However, I think the gameplay really suffered this time around. It isn't bad, but it's half the length of 1 and 2 and the story is just a stone's throw better than 2. If you just want it for the campaign, wait for it to drop to $20-$30.

Crysis 1 definitely has better gameplay. As for the graphics. Better is an understatement. Â The vast levels are there, with mixture of some linear segments, and some cool level designs that reminded me of Deus Ex Human Revolution (the ship, intro level). Â You can even climb into a vent in that level.
After 5 hours I'm in the fourth level (of seven) and it's yet another gigantic open area. There are vents in all levels!
It actively encourages stealth gameplay, unlike the first two.
The only problem is the broken enemy spawn. Most of the time reinforcements arrive - or seem to arrive - from other parts of the map but I noticed some nasty teleportation. At least it's not an infinite stream of enemies.
Screenshots don't do it justice, the game world is very dynamic thanks to the wind, interactive vegetation, water, particles, cloud shadows... It still blows my mind.
From what I've heard, the gameplay is a step up from Crysis 2, and more like Crysis 1 in some ways.Â
As for graphics... Based on the videos I've seen... If you can max it out, it is the greatest graphics ever displayed in real time, by a long shot (unless there's some obscure, non-game tech demo I've missed out on). Mods included, no game has ever even approached looking that good.
I dont know why it got bad reviews in the first place, I am almost at the end now and it has been a solid experiance.
I saw a video comparing console and pc side by side and it wasn't that big of a difference though. I find it hard to believe a console game on old ass hardware looks better than the previous graphics king. Or is the difference in PC and console just not shown well by videos?

never do that ;)

It better not be a youtube video, they compress like hell. This is a fair comparison:I saw a video comparing console and pc side by side and it wasn't that big of a difference though. ÂWell, people that loved the Onslaught level of the first game are going to love Crysis 3. This sh*t is INSANE. I think there are open world games with smaller playable areas than what Crytek pulled off here:lol:
Reviewers can go suck a dick. Or play more than four levels before writing their reviews.
Yeah, I couldn't agree more. This game is a 9.0 at least, according to how I would rate it haha.Well, people that loved the Onslaught level of the first game are going to love Crysis 3. It is also not a rushed console port in DX9 on a half baked CryEngine 3. Crysis 3 is DX11 (only) right out the door and on a fully finished engine this time
exactly this.
Yeah I tend to agree. I'm enjoying the SP, but I wouldn't say it's worth the full price. The only reason I paid full price is because I was desperate for a game.I would wait for a sale. It's extremely short(from all the reviews I've read), and while the multiplayer is decent I don't think it's worth 60 bucks.

Yep. To me, Crysis 3 is a good blend of Crysis 1 and 2. It's also great that they incorporated the jungle and urban environments. Crytek are the masters of jungle environments - Far Cry 3 has nothing on this. It is a shame the campaign in short and how they messed up the story (starting with Crysis 2) when the original finished with a decent cliff hanger.Crysis 2 with DX11 and HD textures looks way better than Crysis 1, unless you mod the crap out of that one. Even then, modded Crysis 2 looks better than modded Crysis 1. It's just that the environment is different.
I wonder if the Crysis 2 haters know that this the same engine that was used for Crysis 3?Pedro
Of course they do. But they also know that Crysis 2 was made with a work-in-progress version of Cryengine 3, that was DX9 native, ported from consoles, and took months to get a patch that added a tiny handful of minimal DX11 effects. Crysis 3 is actually using the full, real Cryengine 3, DX11 native (correct me if I'm wrong, but I think it's actually the first DX11 native game), and the PC version was obviously built separately from the console versions, from the ground up. For the first time, Cryengine 3 is actually being fully utilized, like Cryengine 2 was in Crysis 1 and Warhead. Crysis 2 was not even close to a demonstration of what the engine is capable of.
Also, most of the "Crysis 2 haters" aren't hating on the game's graphics (at least not since the DX11 patch, and HD textures). They're hating on the fact that the game itself was such a huge departure from Crysis 1, completely abandoned almost everything that made Crysis 1 great, and was obviously catered to a more casual audience. Crytek straight up admitted that. That's why the story was basically a whole new thing, with little reference to the original. Crysis 2 was made and marketed for consoles, before Crysis 1 was available on consoles. They knew that most of their target audience had never played the first game.
The game is still consolized like Crysis 2 was, but you can't blame them for that nowadays, they have to sell on the console to get the money in. You can feel it in the gameplay speed and how the game is built. It was a huge setback from Crysis 1 to 2 with the gameplay speed, from having a very potent speedmode in Crysis 1 to a slow sprint that even costs energy in Crysis 2, in Crysis 3 they added back a lil bit of that speed (sprint doesn't cost energy anymore, very important change), but it is still slower than Crysis 1, probably so the controller players can keep up.
Always keep in mind Crysis 1 was made for PC and was ported later on console to cash in on that, Crysis 2 and 3 are made for Consoles AND PC, as PC Purist you just feel it in the gameplay when a game is made with consoles in mind. The controls, the leveldesign, the level of handholding present in the gameplay, everything adds up and makes it still worse than Crysis 1.
I wouldn't trust reviews though, just watch sum gameplay and make yourself a picture of the game.

Also one tip, don't overuse the cloakmode, it messes up the AI and you can turn a challenge into a walk in the park...

The only negatives I have so far is that it is a short campaign and that the games difficulty and AI could be better. I like the controls, shooting, atmoshere and graphics personally. The multiplayer is also improved to. It is definatly not perfect, but still good non the less.
As for the story I never have gone into a Crysis game expecting a good story (so it didnt really dissapoint me in that way), yes it could be better but I mainly play this series for the combat, the options you have to do missions and of course the wonderful graphics.
The graphics are absolutely unbelievable, it blows away anything to date, including that new KZ demo. It is built from the ground up with DX11. I am only on the second level, but so far, the levels are very big. The second level, has you running across around a mile of terrain in each direction, and from what  I hear, it gets even larger later in the game. You have side quests, so there isn't always a definite direction, you can roam freely. So far I love the gameplay.

Wow looks awesome. I may have to pick it up. I'll expect the gameplay to be consolized a bit like another user said. I'm sure the mouse controls aren't quite as razor sharp as they were in a game like Crysis or HL2 or something but thats expected on a multiplat port. Is there a way to turn off the hud? Even if its with a dev console command?
Â
Also how will it perform on a GTX 570? I know there are benchmarks out but I've never ever found a benchmark to be a good example of solid performance through an entire games playthrough.
The screens you posted are amazing.........But please....Just don't use IMGUR if you want to show gameplay screenshots. It didn't come off as consolized to me, and I work with CE3, so I would know. Crysis 2, for instance was very consolized. Again, so far the game is great, the levels are very open. The gameplay is also the best in the series, well, maybe crysis is better, but I love Crysis 3 so far.
I wondered why that was like that, I changed them from 1080p to 720p, is that why they look like that ? What site would you suggest ?
http://imageshack.us/?no_multi=1 That's because i mostly use this, I don't use abload because of the language and never used minus, So ImageShack is the best for me.I wondered why that was like that, I changed them from 1080p to 720p, is that why they look like that ? What site would you suggest ?

Minus recently changed to some dumbass social networking thing, imposed daily hot-link limits... and stopped counting views.
Use Abload, it doesn't compress jpegs, autoconverts bmps to pngs and doesn't give a fvck about bandwidth.
It only takes a bit of common sense to figure out the buttons. It's an excellent service.

It's perfectly fine if you use Photoshop to convert to a high quality JPEG first. Imgur will compress if you upload a large picture, but using Photoshop should trim any 1080p shot to under 1MB.
But I agree. Imageshack FTW.
I'm afraid my PC won't be able to even attempt playing this game and i'll have to be a dirty console peasant again and rent the game. If it actually is 5-6 hours long it isn't worth the full price to me.
It will take you a whole lot longer if you use stealth kills frequently, go after the 2ndaries, and don't rambo your way through it like a jackass.I'm afraid my PC won't be able to even attempt playing this game and i'll have to be a dirty console peasant again and rent the game.
