I haven't played either game but from what I am seeing from videos, Crysis 1 looks like it has better gameplay, and more open environments, which in turn equals tomore decision making. I've played the Crysis 2 demo, and it played like Call of Duty, a game I hate. Crysis 2 takes place in New York, and the environments look a bit smaller and enclosed, not like Crysis 1.

To me, I actually enjoyed the core gameplay more in the second one than I did the first. However, because of the larger environments and more "freedom" in the first, I'd give that the upper hand.

I prefered Crysis 2, seemed more focused, but both are great.

TC, all of your assumptions are correct. Crysis 2 felt like Call of Duty, so much so that I never even bothered to beat it.

I had more fun with Crysis overall. Crysis 2 has some absolutely fantastic moments that are far better than anything in the first one or Warhead, but most of the time it's a very insipid shooter.

To be fair, it's their first linear game so the might learn a thing or two for next time, like they did between Far Cry and Crysis.

And it's nothing like Call of Duty (unless you have no imagination). It's more like a smaller, more linear Halo with really stupid enemies and worse guns.

i liked them both ... 2 was far more linear then 1( 1 gave you the open world feel even though the missions were linear you could still wonder off if you wanted) but still found it enjoyable as even though it was linear they still gave you options in your how you went through each section ... also with 2 i found certain parts very predictable (not sure if it was just bad writing(reusing old ideas over and over) or a result of the linear play) w/o going into spoilers.. dispite that i still like 2 if i had to choose i'd go with probably go with 2 maybe just because it's fresher in my mind

i give the edge to crysis 2, more action packed and some of the graphics are awesome, though crysis 1 had a more realistic look somewhat only because of the textures, but the decision of the better game should be on hold til DX11 is patched in.

Crysis was better for singleplayer, Crysis 2 is better for multiplayer (though the singleplayer portion is still pretty fun and in some ways, better than the first IMO).

They both bring amazing things to the table.

I prefer Crysis 1 because, well, it was amazing and a fresh breath of air into the FPS genre.

I appreciate Crysis 2 for actually improving certain aspectsof Crysis 1, but I did not enjoy it as much as I enjoyed Crysis 1.

Crysis 1 doesnt hold your hand and lets you play how you want, offers more tactical choice, so I give that the upperhand, obvious better graphics aside

Much better. Crysis 2 appeals the COD crowd. Extremely linear, your hand is tightly held all the way to the end, the whole game is one giant corridor, tons of stereotypical macho marine stuff, FPS cliches everywhere, and the multiplayer is a carbon copy of COD. Crysis 2 even managed to have WORSE graphics than the original Crysis, so much so that it only runs in DX9 whereas the original ran in DX10.

In every single way (Except for performance. Although I was actually able to play Crysis 1 on my old 8800GT while Crysis 2 gives constant black screens during low at 800x600...)

Not a single damn thing Crysis 2 does better than Crysis 1.

Crysis 2 is as open as Warhead (except you don't get to see a beach and ocean in 2 to trick you that it's huge, but yes it's not open like Crysis), graphics are also way better (the levels with lots of vegetation that are similar to Crysis/Warhead look phenomenal, you'd have to use mods to make Crysis look like that and it still wouldn't be as good) and there are a lot of explosions, the thing that made made the best levels of Crysis and Warhead.

It's better than 1, but it depends, if you want an open game, this is not for you, or it might be, after custom maps get made, maps similar to Crysis is size.

It is not. The levels in Crysis Warhead are much bigger and far less corridor like.

Crysis one is far superior. Not just with graphics, but gameplay, and everything else with it.

Exactly. I don't know anyone that has played Crysis and Crysis Warhead could actually come up with the conclusion that Crysis 2 is as open as Warhead. Not even close.

Yes because you're in a city and no, Warhead is as linear and limited as 2, because not all the Crysis 2 levels are corridors and ironically those levels are like a forest, not city.

Just because you see a bigger background (unlike a city that makes you feel like in a box) it doesn't mean that it's actually there to access.

I'd say certain parts of Crysis Warhead are as limited as Crysis 2 (mainly the train ride and the Mines), but that is not the case for the whole game. It is simply not accurate to say that Crysis 2 is as open as Warhead.

It has some medium sized levels compared to Crysis, but more than half the game is technically as limited as Crysis 2, they'ree also some of the best levels in Warhead (the train level for example). Crysis is huge, medium Warhead medium small Crysis 2 is the same medium small It does have just a few medium sized levels but they're there, anyway one thing's for sure it's not Crysis and because of that a lot of modders aren't pleased, hopefully it'll be the start of great things this summer :P. I enjoyed Crysis but what made me play it for another 20 hours were the custom sp maps and random fun maps like physis.

Crysis 2 is the superior game. It's paced tighter and doesn't have long stretches of you running around doing very little that advances the story line.

Crysis consists of three acts:

1. You run around outside from village to village killing folks. Lather, rinse, repeat.

2. You are inside an alien hive. (This is the best part).

3. You make your way to the end, killing aliens. The ending and the final boss fight is lame.

The problem with Crysis is that it doesn't require much strategizing. You're in trouble?

Just hit the speed run button and hide in the jungle until the AI forgets about you.

You can't do that in Crysis 2. Nothing more nerveracking than sitting in the middle of a street in Crysis 2,

surrounded by enemies, realizing that your cloak is about to run out....

Crysis is open world, but the developers didn't really know what to do with it. It's still completely linear, depending

on you to trigger certain events for the story to progress (the scripting is also frequently broken).

No one can argue Crysis is superior graphically. I prefer the open world over crysis 2 anyday.

What the hell was the first part of the game? You ran around trying to find Gould doing nothing but killing CELL soldiers. Crysis 1 you ran around trying to find what these Koreans were doing while putting the smackdown on those Koreans in the process. Crysis 2 just has more cutscenes and filler crap to make it seem like something is advancing.

And in Crysis 2, u got problim? SPRINT THE **** OUT! Oh wait you can't because its a regular sprint (Dumbed down feature for no reason...) You can also cloak out of anything. One major problem with Crysis 2 is that they never seem to be aware of the fact that you might be cloaked right in front of them. In Crysis 1, those damn Koreans shoot (and sometimes are deadly + accurate too) at the first branch snap.

Lack of a required strategy is the beauty of Crysis 1. Actually, I don't know anyone who knew how to play the game right, that didn't take their time to plan their attacks. EX: "Oh man look at that camp of Koreans! Must be 30-40 of them! And tanks? Aww ****. The hell am I supposed to do this? Well if I do this and this..." and then stealth into the camp to find ammo and explosives...oh man I can go on for an hour. Theres nothing like that at all in Crysis 2. It lacks any freedom.

Crytek knew absolutely what to do with their amazing creation. In fact, they mastered it. Crysis is THE best single player FPS I've played this generation (hurr hurr ur opinionz.) If anything, they clearly didn't know what they were doing with Crysis 2. The end product received possible permenant brain damage trying to fit in with the CoD and it couldn't stand being that simplistic.

lets put it this way:

Crysis 1 has the best gameplay, more freedom, and more of a marvel on the tech front (it still beats Crysis 2)

Crysis 2 has the better story and in some respects better pacing, then Crysis 1.

I played C2 before the first one because I never had a PC for it. But now I am about halfway through the original and its a completely different game. Its amazing the different direction Crytek went for the sequel. Both are good for different reasons

Perfectly sums it up. The suit in C2 is more functional and fun to use, the gunplay was great and there is more varity to the combat. The physics and sandbox was really fun in the original, and the ability to apprach situations from any direction was welcome. They cant be compared, even though they are the same series, its very strange.
