Well I am getting my internet set up tomorrow, and I just got this rig, so I am trying to get my MP lineup together and so far I have bf2, css, and stranglehold.
Yes if you are a good CS player ... but if you played the clasic CS 1.6 ..... you will be very confused because of the invoroments withc are very realistic & it will take you a wile to get used to the new character models & other thing ...the control scheme , accuracy is exactcly the same so its very familiar .... i'm playing everyday at least 2 hours of CSS & 2-3 hours of TF2 & 1 hour of Day of Defeat ! Valve is in an expert in both singleplayer & multiplyer expirences ! :D

Wow, you are pretty hardcore valve there ;D. Lol. But yeah valve rocks which is why I was planning to make the jump to css with my new rig.
1.6 to source isn't a huge leap but I enjoy 1.6 far more

Well I finally got my internet put in and got to fire up source maxed out and its like an entirely new experience. Are there any good high res texture mods or anything like that? And 1.6 and css are so similar, that I dont see why you wouldnt upgrade if you do have a capable system.
LOL I'll say 1.5 kicked more asses! Rmbr superhero mod on the 1.5? Boy oh Boy those were the days... but then 1.6 came along and kinda screwed everything up :\
It is a great multiplayer fps to own. IMHO, I feel 1.6 has more hackers as it has been out much longer than CSS. THere's more time for hackers to overcome any new anticheat softwares as they are more used to the programming than CSS. The graphics are much better and everything else looks just great, even the weapons.

The recoil depends on the same parameters in both game but they've been tweaked very differently. I'm not going to go into detail, but guns in CS:S go straighter
in my country theres alot more 1.6 servers than css.my frens and i prefer cs1.6(CZ is good tho). Css doesnt last long for us.I love Valve but just that css dont suit me. TF2 looks good :)
Get the package with HL2, CS:S & Day of Deafeat:S. It's incredibkle value. CS & CS:S are the games I've spent more time on in the last 10 years than any other game ever. Once you buy it, it's FREE to use, forever! Since servers are private & usually have an admin somewhere, the few hackers that remain usually get banned pretty soon. Also, CS & Dod are games that you can pick up & play, Don't have to wait long to restart once you die, & you can put it away when you want. So Yes, buy it.

I was thinking the same thing, but I keep hearing that EVERYONE hacks on there...so screw it.
Actually I have been playing on the anti-cheat servers, I have probably put in 20 hours already and not one cheater yet. Lots of pornographic spray tags, but other then that harmless. Even the tags are harmless except when you see 500 lb. nude people plastered everywhere, rofl.
WTf did this rumor that everyone hacks come from?blasphemy...I barely encounter hackers and this is the FPS i play the most online...Porn sprays yeah but w/e.Also dude I recommend the comic character skins for models, they are so awesome with jokers & others :D
All this talk of "everyone hacks" is way exagerrated. Admittedly there are hackers, but players actually use the voteban feature to get the player banned, or an admin does it himself. If all else fails, move to a different server, there are plenty out there :)

All the skins you download, if installed correctly, will be visible to you when your playing. Should a weapon skin have world models you'll also see the new skin of your weapon on another player if they are holding the same weapon. Some skins might be server side only when you go into a server, Eg - your SAS skin has changed to a stormtrooper skin in a server. That because the server your on runs custom skins so everyone on it will see the custom skins, however your PC wont download them when you login to the server.

So no one can see my skins? but if the server has its own skin set, then that is the set that overrides all other custom skins?

Yeah I agree, I was worried I would be sick of it after playing up to 1.5 religiously, then experting console shooters, missing pc and coming back, and worrying about the css rumors that it is easy and the community sucks and what not, and so far it is awesome.
Personally, I think CS:S has the most stupid looking gun models in a game ever. Especially the colt and I'm mainly talking about the arm / hand. It looks wrong

It is wrong. The shells eject out of the left side on the right handed model. OUCH OUCH hot!
Not to say that CS:S is a bad game... it's one of the best. It just isn't realistic.
Valve is good to make Multiplayer games, but Singleplayer. I don't know. Like Infinity Ward. Good Singleplayer, but a little bad Multiplayer. Well I think CSS is for those who want to keep going forward in time. From where I come from every body like CS 1.6, and every body hates CZ. And only a few owns CSS. It's kind boring when nobody plays COD4 or CSS
