Good enough. Not a great game, but one-of-a-kind and fairly enjoyable. Replayability is surprisingly good for a game that isn't the most impressive in the world. Last I checked, there are hardly any mods for the game at all, thanks to the devs never releasing any mod tools for it.
In any case, while I don't love the game, it's still worth playing and I do recommend it.
Was worth it playing it through for me, its pretty similiar to Thief, just with more combat options and fantasy stuff.Tuzolord
No offence Chuck but I have played the demo of that game and it couldn't be any less like Thief.
I don't think the OP should get it. It is a really buggy game and doesn't make much use of the Source engine. Its a hack 'em up, nothing special. You can't even sneak in it.

1. It's not very buggy anymore. Patches have fixed all the glaring problems.
2. You can sneak plenty, I don't what gives you any impression otherwise.
It's a mediocre game that crashed every damn hour on me. I had to restart my PC a lot of times. If that is dealt with, then I guess it's worth a playthrough, if you can handle bad, bad voiceacting and a crappy story. Every time a voiceactor opened his/her mouth, I thought: "Are these people even actors?"
The game has some good aspects to it like decent combat and nice gfx, but the negative stuff outweighs the positive by far imo.

nah dude you can sneak around and suprise-kill ennemies with cool spells and physics,..,
maybe you should get the game if you see it cheap Biggy, if you liked thief so much it's not that far away from it.

i guess I'd be pissed off too if my pc crashed every hour playing it >_>
did you try with the latest patches, drivers and maybe clean format?
Dark Messiah is an awesome game, it has a great atmosphere.
its 10-times Oblivion.

Dark messiah isn't a RPG. At the beggining I thought that this game is a RPG but after few minutes of playing I began to understand that this only a action adventure game :|

Nah, I've played through it once, don't see any point in picking it up again.
I played the game without any patches when it was released. One or two crashes in a game, that's acceptable imo, but that frequent sound loop-bug ruined my experience with the game.
If it's cheap and you have nothing else you want to play, buy it. It's not great, but it is worth playing.
The combat is repetitive and formulaic (but when isn't melee combat formulaic?); the set pieces are so unforgiving that you'll either do them in one shot and love it, or do it about fifty times and hate it; the visuals are good; the voice acting isn't; if you want to play the game as a stealther, you'll find large stretches where stealthing is impractical, impossible or simply redundant; there is a fun spellcasting mechanic and the spells are a lot of fun to use; archery is, if nothing else, extremely satisfying.
I would say go for it, but don't expect a GOTY or anything.

Yeah, thats true...i got to lvl 4 and wanted to start all over again and than, when i got to lvl 2, my PC crashed every time.
I downloaded saves from the net and used cheats to get some of my stuff back. That totally ruined my gameplay expirience.
I thought it was a fun game. Not quite as good as I expected (I wanted Arx Fatalis 2), but still fun. What everyone says regarding the bugs is correct, however, the game is patched up just fine now. Plus it's super cheap these days.
I definetly recommend it.
If you can get it for £10, £15 go for it.
It is quite a buggy singleplayer, which I was unable to finish due to a constant crashing.
Multiplayer is very fun though, it's like Pirates, Viking Knights mod style gameplay - only Dark Messiah style.
It isn't free-roam though, so it's no Oblivion or Morrowind.
