I just got this game and it seriously bugged the hell outa me. It made no sense wut so ever. Ive played farcry 1 and that game was the frigen bomb but whos frigen idea was it to make farcry 2 like this...finding diamonds by exploring the world, upgrading weapons, going really far away to do some repetitive as missions. Its like the same thing over and over and frigen over. The specials effects related to healing urself, fixing cars...etc was cool at the start but now its just annoying. It plays more like a first person version of WOW or GTA. Also can sum1 tell me if this is a bug or not. Close to the starting missions of the game u get malaria and u pass out and find urself in some hut and the guy tells u that diamonds are the main currency blah blah blah and u should find some diamonds and then he says u should go to mikes bar first to get that malaria sorted. So i quickly try to drive to mikes bar but no matter how fast i go i always died of malaria. I did this about 10+ times always trying to go faster and then with different routes. So in the end i gave up and started to look for diamonds. I found some diamonds and then i drove to mikes bar and for some reason i didnt die of malaria on the way? So is this a bug or a part of the game which they r trying to say diamonds reduce the effects of malaria.....

I felt the game was broken, really dissapointing for me. I was expecting Crysis AI but alas it was worse. The weapons felt like they had no effect, travelling was tedious, healing was dumb, multiplayer an after thought (only buy games with total multiplayer focus or SP focus, no half-way houses), cars break down ever 3 minutes, diamonds worth a little gun when they are as big as an eyeball !!! WTF unrealistic!

I think that you have to find the diamond first because it's still a tutorial mission and you have to do the objectives in order in the tutorial. Just try going out of the map limit and see what happens.....lol. This game was my most anticipated for this year and Ubi screwed it up by implementing annoying respawns, horrible AI, ineffective shooting, repetitive gameplay, looooong travelling distances even with cars(which will break down more than you can fix so you'll prefer to travel by foot afterwards) and worst of all, painfully bad storytelling and voice acting. The only good thing was the graphics which didn't even rival Crysis by a long shot. IMO Ubisoft has some of the most interesting ideas of late, but they just can't seem to exploit them correctly.

The joke is that it still smashing reviews. What version did they play?!

I was surprised it received 8.5(?) from GS. I would've given it 7.5 at the most. It's definitely not the worst game of 2008 but not among the best ones either. Ambitious, but too raw and unpolished to be groundbreaking. Another misfire from Ubi, as usual.

How exactly is it an RPG? You have absolutely no stats, and weapons just unlock with missions...

It's more like "The Great African Safari" or open-world travel game. Come-on, for 5 mins shootout, you need to walk or travel for 10-15 mins. :)

Same, I enjoyed it too. I guess I was more interested in exploring the game world and didn't notice the various flaws. The whole "less than 3 minute guard post replacement" thing is retarded but I dealt with that by either going around on foot, running them over or taking them down from a distance. Some of the weapons are unbalanced in that game like the grenade launcher (MGL-140) and any of the sniper rifles (since AI won't even react from a certain distance). Anyway, Far Cry 2 is definitely not an RPG. As you said, it is more like GTA in first-person.

same here. imo, for all its flaws, it's still a pretty good fps. the Dunia engine was especially impressive, with a perfect balance of graphical prowess and performance scaling.

I dont know if anyone feels this way, but some of Ubisoft's latest games seem so repetitive yet they still make me want to play more of the game, which in the case i mention Assassins Creed and Far Cry 2. In my opinion, they're good to play once, but gets dead boring twice.
