Although it has not been officially announced I am telling you now it will come home, (like the prodigal son Craig Wing returning to South Sydney) to PC.
It will probably be released a few months after the console version as was the case with ol' mate San Andreas. Read my review of it here on Gamespot! WB.
There is absolutely nothing to suggest that GTA4 won't come to PC, but there is also absolutely nothing to prove it will come to PC.
What we do know is that all of the major GTA games have come to PC, and indeed it began on PC. Since GTA3, PC versions were released around nine months after the PS2 version, thanks to a Sony exclusivity deal. In the case of San Andreas, it wasn't even announced for PC until it was already out on PS2.
We may assume this will be the case with GTA4. Of course, this time round there is no exclusivity deal (besides the downloadable content), but we may also assume that Rockstar has found a console/PC development schedule that works for them, and is okay with the nine months deal.
We also should recognise that GTA is a series that sells console units. People will actually buy a 360 or PS3 just for GTA4. It's a series that makes us crazy. Rockstar is aware of this. It's also aware that the PC version is better - it looks better and it plays better - and those same people who bought the console version, and maybe the console with it, will also pick up the PC version when it comes out. Launch a PC/console multiplat game and you don't make those two sales. Give the consoles limited exclusivity and you do.
Short answer, probably. As for when? About nine months after the console version.

Nah, I don't think most people are getting both the console version and PC-version. Some people will, yes, but not the majority of gamers. I'm getting the 360 version, maybe I'll buy the PC version too, but I seriously doubt it. First there are control-issues, I know you prefer KB + Mouse to steer your character in GTA-games, but I personally prefer a controller when so much driving is involved. Auto-aim does not bother me, as long as it's fun, who cares?
Second is that my 360 and ps3 are connected to a brand new Sony TV and a decent Sony surround amp. :D (You can say a lot of positive things about a 1920x1200 PC-monitor, but the picture quality is not even close to a high end TV.) Here's my point: my PC is a watercooled beast that weighs a tonn and looks like hell. No way am I dragging it into my living room. That and the fact that a couch + controller = relaxing. PC-gaming is fun and all, but you can't really relax with a KB and a mouse (I know you can use 360-controller in Windows). Now if I get a new, stylish PC, I'll reconsider this, but how many pretty gaming rigs have you seen in your life? They all look like hell.
It will come out on PC! ;)Adversary16
Thats the spirit ol' man! It'll be a winner this one, a darker tone, probably more focused. Now lets hope this one has a decent....oh forget it...

I didn't mean to suggest it would be a majority of players who buy both - it definitely won't be. But many will. Is GTA4 coming to the PC? is probably the most asked question on these boards after Can my PC run x? People really care about the GTA series, and people are really concerned that it may never come. And many will go out and buy a console version because they either don't believe it's coming to PC, or because they just can't wait. I'm toying with the idea myself. Certainly not a majority though, probably an extreme minority relative to overall sales - but you gotta ask why Rockstar isn't even announcing a PC version. It's not like there's an exclusivity deal in play right now - and yet, we're all so confident that it is coming to PC.
As for style, well... that means nothing to me. I care for functionality, not appearance. I don't care that my PC is a giant black brick. I play games for the pleasure of the game, not for how good the machine on which i'm playing it looks. As for comfort - I have an armchair pushed up to my desk. I sit cross-legged (which is my favourite sitting position) in my chair, my extremely comfortable chair. I honestly could not be more comfortable if I tried - the only difference is my arms are resting on my desk instead of in my lap. And I get all the benefits that come with the keyboard and mouse, something I require.
We clearly have opposite opinions, and our own setups both play off our own personal preferences - they both work for us. There's something to be said for that.

Woweee...now I have images of you crossing your legs. The way you described those vivid images, you sound like almost like a holy man! I have afterall always mistaken your user name for Mustafa..But I suspect that is a result of having listened to you stories around the campfires of your trips to the Middle East and Asia while you played the ukilaley. Who could ever forget the time people mistakened you for Buddha and started rubbing your stomach! But we're getting off the topic - were you given the first name Mustafa because you look Mustafa Kemal Atatürk? The founder of the Republic of Turkey?
Judging by your current display picture of yourself I do see some resemblence....though I am in no way suggesting that there is some corruption to your parentage, with a few late nights at the office with ol' Mustafa Kemal Atatürk nosirebob...not at all...just an observation.
Mfsa, answer to your first paragraph: Guess I just misunderstood what you were saying. But I agree.
I don't care about my PC's looks either, as long as it's under my desk in the sleeping room. A living room is a whole other issue. A living room should look good, it's where you relax, have parties, visitors, dates and whatnot. A huge black box with a 6-fan radiator (+ lots of cables) outside is not something most people would like to place besides the stereo. Functionality is great, but there has to be a balance between that and a somewhat clean and "easy on the eyes"-appearance.
And I'd like a link on that chair of yours, lol.
biggest_loser, sometimes I wonder whether it's just your young imagination/wild creativity running wild on these forums or your medication not kicking in, lol. You're certainly a character.artur79
Well you know my ol' friend ...yeah I suspect its a bit of both lol. Actually I just really need to get a GF!! Its one of my mang goals of the year!! Then I will no longer have time to share with each of you my gift for humour and wacky pranks...lol, now you're probably all rushing for your phone numbers to Australia ....thats Australia not Austria to find a woman so I'll shut up. I really do mistake his name MFSA for mustafa sometimes though!! :D
would like it so to see if its diffrent from the other as i didn't like the others i want to see if its going to be better than the rest.Poshkidney
Ohhhhhhh.........ohhhhhhhhhhh........its like music to my ears.....if only you were a woman....ahem

Absolutely right!
Instead of investing on 3 or 4 versions fo GTA 4,what will cost Rockstar alot of money, they can launch a multi-version for all consoles(360,PS3,PC)
I really dont get them..
Most likely it will arrive 6-9 months after the console release. Rockstar bringing their entire catalogue to Steam is a good sign of their commitment to the platform, but then again, not porting Bully and Manhunt 2 to PC is not such a good sign. Still, Grand Theft Auto is too huge not to release it on PC.
I feel that the fact that Rockstar has struck a deal with Steam is a good sign. Now that Rockstar has all of their PC games on that up-and-coming distribution platform(which I love), it may encourage them to bring GTA IV onto the PC. Possibly sooner than they used to. The deal could be a little sign of their intent.jackalv666
Ahhh good point!
