San Andreas is an awesome game. It has an enormous world, tons to do, a great main story arc, interesting and original missions (which is impressive after half a dozen games), as well as some cool new features like - finally - the ability to swim.
If you don't enjoy black culture, SA may grate on you a little. It's full of homie this and dawg that, and the music is oriented towards certain tastes - it's mostly hiphop, rap and soul. But there's some cool rock, some great alternative and an hilarious talk sttion.
SA holds true to everything that makes GTA great, while - as with all new GTA games - making the previous games all but redundant. Vice CIty is still my personal favourite, but SA is the bigger game, and it's certainly the better game - so long as you can stomach the culture. Word, yo!

Trust me my friend....I'm all soul....Can you uhh..."dig it"?
GTA: SA for PC... Nope, not worth it without a gamepad. My friend got it for his PC as well, and he was playing with his keyboard and mouse... It was almost like playing one of those games that use every single friggin' key on the keyboard... If it's gamepad compatible then, heck, why not?Ps2stony
The game is more easy to with a keyboard/mouse than a controller in my opinion O_O

Really? Wait... You HAVE played it on PC right? You're not just guessing that any game with guns is easier on a PC?GTA: SA for PC... Nope, not worth it without a gamepad. What's wrong with you console fanboy? The controls are not hard at all
For almost any game: mouse+keyboard>>>>>>>>>>>>>gamepad ( I know because I play both PC and console games )
SA with a gamepad SUCKS. I still can't understand how people can actually play shooters and RTS with a gamepad. It's very hard to aim and run using a gamepad while with a mouse and keyboard it's much easier
BTW, SA is a great game, but Vice City was better

Hell yes. And I sold my PS2 before I came close to beating GT4, and FFX-2, so it wasn't that I was bored without any PS2 games, it was because I was excited for new PC games. And just for the record... If i still had a PS2 and also a PS3 I would sold teh PS3 for PS2 game money. Seriously. I hate PS3.

Keyboard and mouse:
Out of car:
Easy, fps style control. Uses no more keys than a typical WASD game.Mouse aim on shooting makes combat fun.
In car:
Easy, up-down-left-right controls for driving, mouse-controlled camera gives smooth and fluid control over what you want to look at, making high speed driving a breeze.
Gamepad:
Out of car:
Autoaim Autoaim Autoaim Autoaim Autoaim Autoaim Autoaim Autoaim Autoaim Autoaim Autoaim Autoaim Autoaim Autoaim Autoaim
In car:
Smooth driving controls, but chunky N E S W camera control means fast driving becomes far more hazardous, not to mention awkward.
And that's just controls. The PC version also has higher resolution textures, a much longer draw distance and, unless your PC is junk, none of the frame rate issues the console version had.
The PC version plays better and it looks better.

No more than a WASD game?? Mouse aim?? You know GTA uses lock-on aiming and not a reticle, right? And you have to use the R2 and L2 equivalents to change targets and, bah...Whatever, I have my opinions, and you have yours. Maybe I thought it was complicated because I'm used to FPS's simple WASD+2 mouse button play...

You hold down a button to pull up a reticle, then mouseaim like any first or third person shooter. That's one of the major reasons it's so much better on the PC. Combat is not all about autoaiming.
And yeah, I'd say it doesn't use any more than a typical FPS. You've got forwards, backwards, strafe, sprint, crouch, reload, jump, shoot - the only extra button is to pull up the reticle, but given that there's no grenade button and no melee button, I'd say SA is lighter as far as buttons are concerned.
I respect other people's opinions, but as you say yourself: your friend got it. Did you even play it yourself? How much time did you spend with it? Did you personally configure the controls to your preference? I seriously doubt anyone who configures their controls properly and gives it a serious try could favour the pad over the keyboard and mouse, since it basically plays like a FPS when you're doing it properly. And the much smoother camera control, as I said above, gives for much easier high speed driving, which just makes the game even faster paced and crazier.
Well I got the game yesterday. Its pretty cool I suppose. I can't find any of the side missions though. The main quests are pretty easy too. Drive here, spray that, hit that, etc.
Does it get any harder later on?
yes it will get kinda hard and remember the radar is your best friend im serioussabbath2gamer
Do the sub quests become more prominent ? I can't really find any.
I kind've prefer it on PC, I'm not sure why but it feels alot nicer to me even without a gamepad. Also you can download a mod called SA-MP where you can play online with people, although it isnt as fun as the SP.AnotherKill
Pc has way more control over the shooting machanics, though driving probably isn't as easy as a gamepad. I prefer PC for sure...
NOTE FOR EVERYONE: A lot is two words.... I am starting to wright it as one from reading it that way So many times :P

Agreed, i've played all the GTA games with keyboard/mouse and always thought that was the best and most easiest, and i have tried it with a gamepad and hated it :)
I just suck at PC game...? Now is that a very nice thing to say to me?[QUOTE="Ps2stony"][QUOTE="sabbath2gamer"]playing GTA ont he pc isnt hard he just sucks at computer game he has no micro :lol:Franko_3

-PS2stony usually first in crysis and UT3

-pathetic useless sentence that a 10-year-old would probly write
-this guy has no clue what hes talking bout
-i'm being sarcastic about the first 2 points i made

Uhhh.. YES, if you like the GTA games, they are all way better one PC end of story.
Controls are way better, and no autoaiming, even if you prefer gamepad you can still get one for you PC.
Also you can listen to your own music, better graphics, mods that add new cars to online play. Plus editing the speed of cars is a lot of fun, although it was still better in VC in my mind.
Uhhh....Has anyone tried using the forklift in "Robbing Uncle Sam"? Let me put it this way: if you're saying the controls on PC are better than console then I never EVER want to play the console version!! Has anyone tried to turn that thing? It near impossible. You're supposed to do this U-Turn while your boof head mate/homie G stands around getting plugged! And you can't save it! The game has been pretty good up till this point I might add though. biggest_loser
The first time I played that mission I thought it was extremely hard. But after the second time I tried that mission I found it very easy
No don't get it, it's the same game as GTA3 and Vice City and it's getting old. You play one of those hiphop gangstah wannabes, it's really hard to enjoy a game when you are playing the worse scum of the earth.ikwal
But when you play as a white guy shooting people up, it's okay.

Black people aren't the only "gangstas" out there, you know. The scope of races in ghetto gangs has grown these days, and a white guy acting all gangsta and thug isn't as odd as it used to be (meaning, there are many more genuine white gansters today, not just posers).
Hm. This thread has made me consider looking into San Andreas for the PC. I just always figured GTA games were console games first, so on the PC they would be just like any other port - poorly adapted, odd or simplistic controls, etc. But if that's not the case, then... Hm.JP_Russell
Any GTA is 10 times better on PC
The controls and the graphics are much better, there are lots of mods (like multiplayer, new buildings...) etc.
