I was wondering about guild wars 2. Theres no monthly fees and its a MMORPG. Is it a real MMORPG? Is there like thousands of people in each server similar to WOW or is it like Diablo where theres only a few people. Or is it a mixture of both?

you don't need to group up. in yahtzee's words, guild wars 2's twist to the party system is "THE SERVER IS A PARTY AND EVERYONE'S INVITED". basically, there's no way to kill steal, steal nodes or otherwise punish other players, and buffs always affect areas, rather than party members or individuals. everyone also has their own healing skill, and everyone can revive a downed player (and get exp for it). the result is an extremely friendly, fluid multiplayer experience. But is it fun playing alone is a better question(haven't played it yet).

agreed. You can team up if you want but the game makes it so where you don't have to if your not that type of person. bosses are like random events and puts a hit marker on them on the map so whom ever is in the area thing will pop up. IF there isn't no one in the area usually NPC will help you fight the boss if it requires it

The only exception though is the dungeons. You can go with random group but I find it's a complete mess unless you have voice chat with them, so I think that has to be done with people you know.yes, even though after a little there is nothing to do,once you reach max level its game over, that why most of the people that bought it have adandoned it.but for a game with no subscription it worth it,you can just come back whenever you feel like it
I greatly disagree. I have 2 characters at level 80, with another 2 in the way, and 100% of the map with one of them and still have tons of things to do:yes, even though after a little there is nothing to do,once you reach max level its game over, that why most of the people that bought it have adandoned it.but for a game with no subscription it worth it,you can just come back whenever you feel like it

# Upgrading all the gear to exotic status.
# Crafting alternative gear for specific purpouses (magic findieng, etc.)
# Transmuting every piece of my gear to the desired skin I want.
# Finishing the personal campaign (currently 36/40, despite I finished the campaign in coop with a character of a friend as amphitrion).
# Crafting my own legendary weapon.
# Playing ever more the WvWvW. Seriously, is the most fun part of the game. The thrill of fighting real persons in huge maps and the teamwork required to achieve success is what makes the game great. And even if one doesn't like playing in coop the game alone offers at least a couple of hundred hours of gameplay to lone wolve players.

I like this game better than wow and have near 300hrs and still playing.
If in the mood for an mmo without monthly fees this is the one. I hope more games will be made like this because my days of paying per month are over.

Yeah I love this. One thing that makes GW2 so great is that it does a good job making players not hate other. And discards things that would make sense in a sandbox mmo but not a themepark mmo.

"**** off"
"You do not deserve that mob, you suck"
"It is my node you ****"
Also, no more players snagging a resource node, while I am busy trying to fight off a mob that happened to be guarding it, causing me to fight over nothing.
In other words, GW2 does not make me a misanthrope like WoW did.

In other words, GW2 has party compositions on how they used to be, back in the golden age of mmos. EverQuest 1 was the same and later on when the population started declining unorthodox group compositions were common. Of course, the group compositions in GW2 are more free than those in EQ.
Also, you can say class now.
