Is Hellgate multiplayer only or is there a single player component as well? How does the game compare single to multiplayer. I have satillete internet (its all that's avaliable in my area) and MMORPG's are basically out of the question.

Singe and Multiplayer. I believe taht there is almost no difference between the two except for dropped items may not be as good. The story remains the same though.

The biggest differences I've noticed between single and multiplayer are: 1. There are other people in the safe areas in multiplayer (duh) and 2. Loot drops seemed to be better in multiplayer.

In MP you can create partys with your friends (or anyone else) and complete missions that are too difficult for you, or just kill monsters for fun\items.

They are always adding new content to the game and MP is the only way to get most of it. If you want certain pets or items then you have to go MP. You can have both single player or MP games, but you cant take your characters from one to the other. The MP characters are stored on their servers. Also they have a paid subscription service that offers extra content on top of the free stuff for multiplayer. Paid subscribers get extra storage space and access to certain items (weapons, armor and buffs) that free accounts dont get. Then there is the lifetime accounts. This was only available when the game launched and the offer is no longer available. You simply get subscriber benefits for life. Now that they have doubled the locker space in free multiplayer, there isnt much of a reason for the monthly subscription, unless you want the special items. Their extra content doesnt really help you in the game, but it makes you stand out from the crowd when in towns.
